"Before you hire Sears Home Improvement (aka **Transform**), you should first understand and consider just how poorly this company treats its customers. Please understand that hiring this company will certainly result in an excruciatingly painful project. I would neither wish nor recommend this negative experience to anyone. I hired this company to remodel my kitchen. Here are some data points from my project: - The project started 66 days after my contractually promised a start date. No communications were given by a project coordinator to indicate delays, leaving me wondering if/when the project would start at all - When the project finally began, a subcontractor showed up and worked for 3 days to completely demolish my old kitchen, and partially install new cabinets. They left me with nothing functional. - The company then proceeded to leave me stranded for an additional 76 days with no sink, and no way to cook for myself. - They failed to meet their obligation to install a temporary sink (as promised in our contract) and missed their obligation of **substantial project completion** by 61 days. - They refused to complete 2 major scope items (plumbing and electrical work) approximately 100 days into the project, citing information available to them on the first day I signed their contract. They initially offered me credits for only half the cost to cover these items elsewhere, forcing a week-long negation process. The subcontractor who actually did the work in my home was fantastic. However, the company overall caused me so much pain and suffering that my new kitchen is not even worth the final end product."

"We recently remodeled our kitchen with KTU of COS. From the first consult and thru the whole remodel process KTU was professional, punctional, showed great craftsmanship, and always left the worksite cleaned every day. They helped us design our kitchen. They were always available for questions and gave us a day to day work progress roadmap. All the subcontractors they recommended were also professional and above and beyond. We are so happy with our mountain modern rustic kitchen and also very happy how smooth the remodel was. I highly recommend KTU of COS."

"Our experience with Carroll Painting was excellent. Their commitment to the highest quality craftsmanship at reasonable prices best sums up working with them. They did a whole house exterior painting of a large stucco home for us. They used the finest quality paint for all trim, soffits and fascia and deep coats of elastomeric stucco paint in both sprayed and hand rolled application. Our house not only looks great, but is also great to the touch when compared to the dry, deeply weathered and faded stucco surface we had. Steps: Whole house pressure wash; whole house caulking and sealing; patch/repairs to stucco; whole house painting. I would also like to compliment Peter Carroll for his flexibility and willingness to work with us on our color choices. He said he wanted us to be happy with the final job no matter what so we did go back and forth on color choices in the beginning. Once we finalized our choices, with the help of his excellent color sense and recommendations, and the assurance we could make changes during the job if we needed to; we ended up making only one change (on the color of the garage doors) and now have house that pops, tastefully. Their work crew was just as committed to excellence and flexibility as the company owners. They did not watch the clock often working long into the early evening to complete their day’s goal. They were a pleasure to work with."

"Hiring this company was the biggest financial mistake of my life! If you care about your home don't hire this company. The only time they cared about me was just before I paid them? They wouldn't stop calling??? After they got their money I didn't hear from them much? It took this company over a year to fix hail damage on my home. After not hearing from them for months I called KKTV call for action on them. As soon as the news reporter called them that day they contacted me and showed up to my house to work. They would recognize my phone number and not pick up? I would literally have to use my neighbors phone or family phone tricking them just to reach someone in their office? The owner tries to point fingers at the insurance company and he even blamed me for not knowing what the insurance company was actually covering? I posted a few pics showing what 27k can't fix/do? But you can clearly see in the pics that they failed at replacing specific boards directly impacted by hail. Instead they glued and painted over them. The best part about this ****** experience was the moment they left my home for good! Lesson learned!"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Pueblo, CO

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
