"They replaced my bathtub, installed a new vanity, put in new lights and painted a wall cabinet. Not only were they punctual, but very polite and reasonable. I highly recommend them and will use them in the future."

"Yaniv was very professional when he replaced a door in my home. He walked me through the estimate and cost to make sure I was comfortable before proceeding. And if there was an issue, he made sure to explain and let me know immediately. I would recommend Yaniv to anyone that needs their doors replaced or fixed!"

"Aldo was punctual, and competent. He communicated everything very well. He and his crew were timely, well mannered and efficient. The interior stairs of my fathers brownstone were carpeted for over 30 years and a previous contractor had removed the carpet without completing the job. Aldo removed the nails and residue carpet material, repaired several treads of the staircase, replaced several spindles, laid vinyl flooring , and painted the risers and spindles. He consulted with me on every decision, colors, materials, and their practicality. The job was completed sooner than he had initially estimated. I will definitely be hiring him again."

"Paul is very easy to work with. He replaced two water-rotted window sills. He did such a good job that I asked him back to replace a three-step wooden landing with 2 by 4s and install a railing around a deck. His prices are reasonable and flexible. He will work with you to incorporate your suggestions for how the work should be done. Very polite and approachable."

"I found G-Mulitfix from Home Adviser site and it was my first time using them. I saw some photos and met with the owner to get an estimated pricing. Price was reasonable and material was a great quality. I contracted them to repair and waterproof my deck. It was such a pleasure to work with them. I would definitely recommend this company to your future projects or repair."

"I needed vinyl tiles in parts of my apt removed & replaced. I had contractors came into my apt for quotes & estimates & observations. Of the 4 or 5 who came by for quotes, I picked Tcasa Contractors because their workers were not only direct, sincere and reasonable but they made me understand that they could complete the task in a day. That was what I Wanted anyway! Above all, the work they did was clean & professional. I am glad Home Advisor, Inc has set up a system that enables customers like me to utilize their services because I know a lot of people are having similar problem."

FAQs for doors (interior) installation and replacement projects in Queens, NY

If your existing frame is in good shape, you can replace an interior door without changing the frame. This is a budget-friendly option because it saves on the cost of removing and installing a new frame. By choosing a slab door that fits your current frame, you'll save on labor and materials. Just make sure the new door matches the old one's dimensions for a smooth replacement.

Standard interior doors are 80 inches tall and range from 28 to 32 inches wide. Interior doors vary from 24 to 36 inches wide, depending on their purpose and the available space. Building codes require interior doors to be at least 80 inches tall and 24 inches wide. Knowing standard sizes helps you select a new door that fits properly in your existing opening.

It costs $600 to $2,000 or more to move an inside door. The total price depends on your location, the type of door, and materials needed to complete the project. Moving an interior door requires walling up the leftover space and opening up a new wall where you want the door to go instead. You’ll also want to plan for the expense of framing the new wall opening and adding trim.

Exterior door installation costs an average of $1,175, with a typical range of $525 to $1,800. The higher expense compared to the cost of interior doors comes from the need for exterior doors to be weather-proofed and they are often made of thicker, more durable materials. The associated exterior hardware must also be able to withstand harsh weather, so these cost more as well.

It costs between $300 to $2,500 to make a doorway wider on average. However, the wider you need the space to be, the more it will cost. Some homeowners choose to widen interior doorways to make the house more wheelchair accessible. In order to be wheelchair accessible, an interior door needs to be at least 32 to 36 inches wide. Also, some older homes just have narrow doorways due to the nature of how homes were built differently many decades ago.

It takes between two to five hours for a professional door installer to install an interior door, depending on complexity and materials. A pre-hung door typically takes around two hours, and larger doors like double French doors can take up to five hours. If you’re doing the project yourself, expect it to take a little longer than that, especially if you have little to no experience completing this type of project. Keep in mind that a pre-hung door can be installed about an hour or two faster than a slab door.
