"Fair $, but turned into a nightmare. Once concrete poured, did a decent job at trowling smooth , but didn't bevel front edge right for water run off. I believe he has the knowledge, just would not show up or do it. Never on time - if showed at all. So much work needed before day of pour, no-show until that day and then showed up 1.5 hrs late- same time as concrete truck showed up. Did not bring jersey bucket to get cement into back yard, so my driveway was damaged, but thankfully he did repair that. I did all, including 4 hrs digging night before, as I guessed he would not show up again. Concrete was to be sloped on outer edge. Water sits. Their time investment on site: 5 hrs removing old cement & 5 hrs pouring- leveling cement. My time from contract date: over 14 hrs with pick and shovel, and I am 67 I had to do 99% ground prep. After pour, Did not come back and put in expansion cuts, so I did. All which I paid them to do. I believe he could do good work, if he put in effort "

"We had a contract to do the patio and one small area of landscaping since late winter/early spring. He kept complaining about his partner bailing in him so I told him if it was easier for him he could hold off on the Landscaping part and just do the concrete patio. He said that sounded like a good idea but then he insisted I pay him the price for doing BOTH projects even though he wasn't going to be doing the one. I sent him the itemized breakdown of the price and told him I want going to pay him the extra for the landscaping if he want going to do it. That seemed logical and reasonable to me. He blew up and started venting about his prices had increased and he didn't have to keep to the contract. He said "everyone" was changing their contacts and he was changing ours to charge more after making me wait 5 months. To clarify it wasn't a quote but a contract that states at the bottom it is "legally binding". There is no cancelation clause in it either. After his outburst I told him keys just keep everything exactly how it was then. I'll pay you the total amount and you do both jobs that you scheduled for 7/7. He refused to do anything in the contract. He made it so I can't do the project this year because he wasted my time and now all other contractors are booked. He was incredibly unprofessional. He was unreasonable. He was emotionally unstable. DO NOT HIRE HIM!!!!"

"We had our front cement step, previously done years ago by UI, enlarged to a bigger two-tier step in summer 2020 for $3000. I asked and received advice about coating it for long-term use against the elements, and I followed the advice with coatings. Unfortunately after the first year it developed a few significant holes in the surface, which Paul returned to fix with cement caulk. But this year more holes and a crevice. After I texted him with pictures, Paul attributed this to salt, though the cement step originally there had never weathered. I asked him what could be done? He mentioned the name of a different coating, but said the steps would have to be ground down now to get off the previous seal, but he said he couldn't come back for "a few pennies" when he had other big jobs and not enough staff. He told me to just keep applying the sealant he originally recommended and plugging the holes. I said I was disappointed that it was just deteriorating right from the beginning and would keep on falling apart. He said, "I don't know what you want from me?" He then made a few rude comments to me about bothering him on a holiday weekend (he initiated the call to me on July 4). In his last followup text to me he said "I'm sorry I have no time and there is never enough time. Running myself crazy." Yes, something's not right, but he does have the money."
