"We hired Robert May to clean up and remodel a property we purchased at auction. He began work on or about June 5, 2020. The plan was to spruce up the house enough to attract a tenant. We do these projects all over the country and can generally turn a property around in 4 - 16 weeks at the most, if truly in need of major rehab. By January 2021, we began seriously questioning Robert. Why was this project taking so long? We could have built an entire house in seven months! Robert promised that he would be finished by Valentines Day. February 14, 2021 passed long ago. There was still work being done in March. Finally, after spending roughly $90,000 on a project to fix up a house that cost us approximately $18,500 to purchase initially, we realized that we were way over budget and needed to recoup some costs quickly. Roberts wife aggressively pitched herself as a realtor who could get the house SOLD and moreover that the house would sell quickly as it was in fantastic shape and she would personally push Robert to get the house finished so she could get it sold. The home was listed for sale April 6 and went under contract June 2. Although the transaction was scheduled to close July 2, it is now July 9 and the deal is still not closed. Due to numerous defects in the workmanship provided by Robert May, we had to credit Buyer $7,500. Then, at the last minute, Robert May and his wife Karen Reese May have snuck in a bill for $4,500 for additional work. This is after paying Robert more than $80,000 for his inferior work! Robert has not apologized for the defects, refuses to talk to me, and has made no effort to make amends for the failures. Worse yet, we are losing $7,500 on the transaction as a result of the poor workmanship which Robert should be responsible for, but instead Robert is billing an additional $4,500! The Buyer s attorney will not close and we think it is unfair for Robert to make us pay him even more after he cost us so much. So disappointing on top of that that Roberts wife is now breaching her fiduciary duty to represent her clients and rather is advocating only for herself. It appears that Robert May is not licensed, but Karen Reese May should clearly lose her license for such a breach of her fiduciary duty to her client. Should you have any questions about Robert May, feel free to contact me."

FAQs for handyman service projects in Raeford, NC

Winterizing shields your home’s structure and key systems from snow, ice, and freezing temperatures. By sealing drafts and tuning up heaters, you cut energy waste, extend the life of appliances and windows, and avoid surprise repair bills. A small up-front investment keeps rooms cozy and protects the value of your biggest asset all winter long.

Yes, it’s important to prepare your sprinkler system for the winter. Blowing out the lines and insulating above-ground parts keeps valves and pipes from splitting when temperatures drop. A quick winterization visit costs far less than repairing burst components in spring, and it ensures your lawn--and your wallet--stay in good shape once the thaw hits.

A full home winterization plan goes beyond sealing windows and pipes. You might schedule a home energy audit, cover outdoor furniture, service the snowblower, swap smoke-detector batteries, add outlet gaskets, and hang storm doors. Each step beefs up your home’s protection, cuts drafts, and lowers the chance of costly cold-weather damage.
