"The job went smoothly and perfectly. They were very professional and we are very happy. It’s wonderful to be able to use the full depth of the cabinet with easy access. Not having to bend or get on the floor to get what is in the back of the cabinet is wonderful."

"Our project started off on time, but it became apparent very quickly that they were not going to finish in 5 days. Day 1: 1 guy to prep and do the refacing. He worked very diligently, but I’m pretty sure he was new. Day 2: started with 1 guy, then another showed up later in the day. Day 3: Cancelled because something wasn’t ready. Day 4: I think 2-3 guys today. I could definitely tell this wasn’t going to be done Friday. Day 5: we must have had 6+ people trying to get the work done. It was chaotic. They stayed after 8pm before admitting the work would need to be finished later. At this point they packed everything up (including the cabinet knobs that were going to be reused). Over the next 2 weeks, the work was finished, with the exception of the pull out garbage can. The pull out garbage was not what we were expecting. We wanted a top mounted version and it ended up being a bottom mounted. Julia offered to get us the correct version at no cost to us. Unfortunately it was back ordered and she would reach out when it was shipped. 5 months later Julia called to let me know the insert was in and she could schedule someone to come out and install. I replied that any day but Friday would work... never heard back from her. The irritating thing about this was I ordered the same version of the "back ordered" garbage can insert from Home Depot back in August. It arrived in a few days, so I really felt like I was being lied to. In the end I suppose it worked out. We still owed $900 due upon completion of the project, but since the project was never completed, we never paid and have not heard from Cabinet Cures about it. I really wish things would have ended better as I would have liked to have had the same company reface our bathroom cabinets as well."

"They were excellent. The guy who came was very knowledgeable and did a great job. I love the cabinets. He did a really god job. I’m very happy with him. He is very nice. The quality of work was good and superior. They were very punctual. The guy came out when he said he would and never rescheduled me. I would definitely recommend them. Their price was cheaper. I would use them in the future."

"I bought an older home that needed renovation. I liked the layout of the existing kitchen so I decided to reface the kitchen cabinetry instead of installing a whole new, custom kitchen. The price is about half. I met and got a bid from Surface Solutions, TJ Bonney. I liked his demeanor and straightforwardness immediately. He gave me a fair bid and I hired him. In addition to receiving new doors, I got new drawers and drawer fronts. TJ was able to put in shelves that pull out in my pantry for ease of use. He also arranged to have my quartz countertops installed. My kitchen turned out beautifully and I couldn’t be more pleased. TJ showed up on time each day and worked non-stop to complete the job. After completion of the job I decided to get a taller refrigerator than originally planned. TJ came back out and made the changes to the cabinet above the refrigerator at a very reasonable additional price. If you want a kitchen that looks brand new in just a couple of weeks and at a reasonable price then this is the way to go. Without hesitation, I give TJ Bonney my highest recommendation."

"Wife and I had builtin cabinets and installed around our fireplace. Project looks fantastic. Cabinet fit/finish and matching color to sourrounding woodwork was very good. Installers were ontime, friendly and professional. We would highly recommend Hayes Cabinets."

"Met with M N M to select the cabinets & was very happy with their service & the quality of their cabinets.  A couple of days later we <br /> placed an orde& found out they had just gotten in a new, very large new job so that would have delayed our kitchen & bath cabinets by a number of weeks.  Our contractor selected another cabinet shop, but in retrospect, I wish we would have just waited.  The quality of service & product was sub-par compared to M N M.  And their pricing was about the same. <br />"

"Cabinets were refinished beautifully and VERY durable (6 months later) they are standing up well and looking great. The front door which has a lot of intricate carving on it was faded and I was leaning towards replacing it. After having it restored I am thrilled with the outcome. For the Floor Peter removed a room seperation railing and feathered in an angular cut piece of hardwood 6 feet long to match the existing HW lines. Carpet on one side & hardwoods on the other. Very well done."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Rainier, OR

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
