"Had a clog in my kitchen sink. Chico came out and was quickly able to figure out the problem and clear my drain and was very tidy with his work area. The price was higher than expected but worth it considering the quality of work."

"This was the most amazing plumbing experience ever. Ly was quick, super skilled, made my old, problematic, completely clogged drain flow super fast. Rather than do unnecessary things, he will tell you what you really do not need to do and why. Made my sluggish toilet work perfectly, and I did not even think that was possible, so I never mentioned it. The charge was low, and after advising me how to get my toilet clean, left it sparkling !!!"

"The technician arrived on time, was extremely professional and very patient taking time to answer my questions regarding what I should be doing as a homeowner to maintain my system. <br /> He started by sticking his head in the opening of my attic to look at the ducts & assessed what could/should be replaced. Then he inspected my AC unit, assessed its age and "state", opened the electrical panel to review the wiring, checked the refrigerant/flow and explained the basics of maintenance. We ended up going inside to look at the air filter and while their he conducted a similar inspection on my furnace. While my AC was running he used a surface thermometer to read temps at several of my registers. He took the time to explain how to clean my coil with a hose from the outside of the condenser and to take care not to use too high pressure. <br /> In the end he made suggestions feel genuine and not like some high pressure sales tactic. I had a very positive experience and when he left I was happy to leave an A+ assessment on Angies list; however, when I reviewed what was supposed to be included in the "$39 for a Spring Air-Conditioning Tune-Up" that I paid for I realized I didn't do a good job in holding him responsible for executing everything in the package. <br /> $39 for a 20-point Spring air-conditioning tune-up <br /> Calibrating and leveling thermostat <- Didn't need doing I guess <br /> Cleaning filters as needed <-- COMPLETE <br /> Lubricating and inspecting bearings for wear  <-- didn't happen (maybe it didn't need to?) <br /> Cleaning indoor coil (if accessible) <-- don't think it was accessible <br /> Flushing and treating condensate drain with anti-algae product  <-- didn't happen <br /> Inspecting condenser coil  <-- didn't get opened to look at <br /> Monitoring operating pressures of refrigerant <-- COMPLETE <br /> Inspecting safety devices for proper operation  <-- COMPLETE <br /> Inspecting disconnect box for proper rating and installation <-- COMPLETE <br /> Monitoring volts and amps on fan motor <-- Not sure <br /> Tightening all electrical connections  <-- COMPLETE <br /> Inspecting and testing contactor for burns and/or pits  <-- INSPECTED <br /> Inspecting electrical for exposed wiring <-- COMPLETE <br /> Inspecting and testing capacitors <-- INSPECTED <br /> Inspecting fan blades <-- COMPLETE <br /> Cleaning condenser coil and removing debris <-- Didn't happen <br /> Inspecting service valves for proper operation <-- COMPLETE <br /> Measuring temperature difference between supply and return <-- COMPLETE <br /> Inspecting duct work for energy loss <-- wasn't thorough <br /> Monitoring compressor for proper amp draw, volt draw, and wiring connections <-- Not sure <br /> Reviewing the list after he left  I wish I would've insisted a better assessment of the ducting in my attic & that they cleaned the AC condenser coil.  <br /> I don't think there was any willful negligence on the techs part to get out of work, and ultimately I think I paid a fair price for what was completed. Even though Excel Air missed a few things from the package I would use the company again and would even recommend them to friends with the caveat to make sure you know what services are to be rendered before they arrive (and not after like I did). <br />"

"Johnny came out to diagnose our blocked main line. We’ve had trouble with our drain for about 5 years. He used his camera we could see the broken part of the old pipe on the screen. It was fascinating. We finally had someone figure out the problem. Their crew worked through the day and night and we had our pipes flowing by the next evening. Thanks to your team we haven’t had any more issues. "

"Guardian responded quickly to my request at 7:30pm for a plumber. They showed up the next morning at 8:30am...that's super quick! This is a rental property and having the issue taken care of quickly for a tenant is really important. They had everything wrapped up quickly and even sent me photos of the clog, so I knew what caused the issue...quite helpful! I will definitely use them again!!"

Customers say: Quick response

"First we had a backup of our sewer into the kitchen sink. When they came out to clear the blockage, we found out that there was a break in our sewer line - an offset allowed the sewer to back up. Using a camera and other technology, they were able to locate the break - precisely - it was 9 feet below the surface. Working around the rain, the following people put their heart and sole into getting it fixed. Gabriel was in charge of the group - Frank ran the camera crew, Raul dug the hole down past the gas line, electric and water lines. Francisco and Martin did the power flush after the line was repaired. These guys worked IN THE RAIN to get the job completed in a timely manner. After RAUL dug below the service lines, a backhoe was used to complete the hole. I&#39;m sorry, but I cannot remember the name of the operator of the backhoe. Again, superb work. As I&#39;m sure you can tell - I am very pleased with this crew. Robert M. Irvin"

FAQs for drain clog or blockage clearing projects in Rancho Santa Fe, CA

Snaking a simple clog near a tub, toilet, or sink often takes about five minutes. Deeper blockages along the main line can stretch the job to a few hours because the pro must feed extra cable and may need a camera to confirm the pipe is clear. Either way, specialized tools help pros work quickly and keep your drains running for the long haul.

Aggressive snaking can scratch pipes, push debris deeper, or even crack older lines. That risk is low with an experienced plumber who matches the cable size to the pipe and eases the snake through bends instead of forcing it. If you’re unsure of your technique—or your pipes are already fragile—calling a licensed pro is the safest, and often cheapest, move.

Start with simple barriers: mesh screens on every tub, shower, and sink keep hair, food bits, and jewelry out of the pipes. Skip harsh chemicals; a monthly flush with hot (not boiling) water clears light buildup without damaging plastic lines. Finally, practice smart disposal—no grease, wipes, or kitty litter down the drain—and schedule routine cleanings if you have older plumbing.

Roto‑Rooter typically charges a flat $160 to $450 for standard snaking, which may include a quick sewer inspection and basic clean‑out. Exact pricing depends on the clog’s location and complexity. Repairs or part replacements fall outside that flat fee, so ask for a line‑item estimate if your tech spots broken pipe sections or recommends additional work.

Most liquid cleaners rely on caustic chemicals that eat through hair and grime—but they also erode metal and even some plastics over time. Repeated use strips protective pipe coatings and can leave you with leaks or premature failures. If hot water or a plunger doesn’t help, call a plumber for mechanical removal instead of pouring more chemicals down the line.
