"Alex removed our existing concrete patio, installed a paver patio, and rebuilt a stone wall. He and his crew were courteous, professional, and extremely knowledgeable, paying great attention to detail. Alex was also very accommodating, meeting us at a stone yard to help pick out materials. We highly recommend Alex Masonry and would definitely hire them again."

"We are thrilled with our beautiful new patio. Our backyard now feels like an Italian Piazza, with old world stone beautifully laid out. The speed and efficiency with which the project was completed was exceptional, and the price was very resaonable. If we ever need any masonry work done again, or have friends looking to have some work done at their house, we will be sure to recommend R &M Masonry."

"Leonard expertly repaired my slate walks and patio that had lifted and settled over time. The process included power washing the stones, laying and leveling fresh stone dust, then replacing the stone -- including replacing those that had broken. The pricing was fair and the work outstanding. I will use Leonard again and recommend him to friends and neighbors."

Customers say: Quality work

"Can not say enough good things!! Luis and crew not only ripped and repaved my driveway, they installed edge drainage pipes stone and topsoil, plus installed belgian block curbing in 3 odd spots. Because we were doing this in the hottest time of the year, Luis was very specific about waiting 2 weeks between rip-out and repaving. This allowed the sub grade to get rained on and get voids out before the final asphalt came in. The base was rolled over and over many times to compact properly. Luis very friendly, he carefully listened to my specific requirements (I am an older civil engineer) and he and his crew executed perfectly. Cristina in the office was superb at scheduling and communicating from engagement to after the work was complete. If you have a driveway or parking lot project in SW Connecticut, P and M Paving LLC will not disappoint!!"

"I am so glad that we found Ben! He replaced our ugly old front steps & walkway with beautiful stone and pavers. I am beyond satisfied with the work he and his crew did. Pricing is extremely fair, and Ben takes such pride in his work and makes sure everything is perfect. I am already looking forward to using him again to redo my back steps and install a new patio."

"They are true to their company's name - dedicated craftsmen. They do beautiful work and for a very reasonable price. They built two porches - one on the front and one in the back, (with unschedule replacement of the two rotting pillars) and quite a large patio. The yard is on a very slight decline and Vilson leveled the patio. I was impressed. I loved working them and would recommend them for any stone and masonry work."

He constructed a retaining wall the length of our yard and built a fire pit on our patio. We love his work and would highly recommend him for stone work."

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Redding, CT

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
