"It did not go well. He is a nice guy and means very well, but halfway through the cleaning he admitted that he was just learning how to do tile, and knew next to nothing about working with stone. After several hours with marginal success, we agreed to forget the whole process. So we paid for a service that we did not fully get. I'm sure he knows carpets well, but certainly not stone or tile work. We are in the process of contracting with someone else whose speciality is stone and tile work. The company contacted me and we agreed to a refund of half the price I paid. This was very good of them and sincerely appreciated"

"They did a good job. She had to submit like a photo but my daughter had them work on the central are of the loft. The deal was for one room. She got a lot of good ideal from her and it was worth it for her. They were professional and I did not hear anything negative."

"We hired Daniel to completely redo our bathroom, including removing a fiberglass shower surround and replacing with tile, updating accent tile throughout the rest of the bathroom to match, and supervising plumbing, installation of glass shower doors, and installation of granite counter tops. I can't recommend him highly enough. His work is spectacular, he's incredibly easy to work with, and the work was completed on time and on budget. We'll definitely be calling him again."

FAQs for tile: ceramic and porcelain repair projects in Redmond, OR

People use the terms refinishing, resurfacing, and reglazing interchangeably. Refinishing is a process that repairs old tiles and gives them a fresh new coat of finish. This is also called tile resurfacing or reglazing.

Yes, you can refinish tiles as a DIY project, but it’s important to follow all the steps involved. These include the following:

  1. Clean the tiles or hire a local tile cleaning service to remove all the residue (soap film, oil, grease, and dirt).

  2. Etch the tile to ensure the refinishing solution adheres properly.

  3. Fill in any cracks or chips in the tile.

  4. Recoat the grout.

  5. Repair any missing or damaged caulking where applicable.

  6. Apply the refinishing product, primer, and enamel.

Your newly reglazed tile should last between 10 and 15 years with proper installation. However, higher-traffic areas and moisture may result in a reduced life span. Explore the cost of different tile types to determine which material works best for your home and needs.

Your bathtub and tile refinishing cost will likely seem like a small price to pay for the transformation it offers. Provided your tile and grout are both intact, refinishing will bring a brand-new style at a fraction of the cost.

Yes, most ceramic tile is paintable with specific epoxy or tile paints. However, you’ll want to avoid areas of heavy use or moisture, such as countertops, showers, and bathtubs. Paint can crack, bubble, or wear away over time, especially on floors.
