Small jobs welcome

"The previous contractor that laid the linoleum left ripples in the floor. It wasn't installed correctly. Top Notch Construct came in and did just that in the repairs, a Top Notch job. The team was also very professional and worked with me in understanding what they were going to do."

"Expert House Movers brought a crew of 6-8 & came in late August 2013 to start the process of raising & moving the house.  My husband had done all the prep work of disconnecting the utilities & removing the furnace, etc. They dug access ramps to the old foundation/basement with bobcats.  They poked good sized holes around the foundation so they could put in steel beams and jack up the house.  Our foundation was from 1917 & built from old creek gravel cement, so it was pretty tough.  It took three & half days to jack the house & move it over the driveway.  It seemed really fast to me.  The only thing to fall in the house was a picture off the piano.  We still had access to the house through a tall ladder to get clothes, etc. that we needed. <br /> We took over the process of arranging excavation, concrete pouring, and carpenters with more local contractors.  Expert does have concrete people & others they use in the St Louis area that know exactly the requirements needed for the new foundation. <br /> After the basement was poured & cured (curing takes about 3-4 weeks), Expert returned in October 2013 to move & set the house.  They had been in contact with the concrete man for specifications, but there were no slots for the beams when setting the house down.  A concrete worker had to come & cut those slots.  We had a carpenter on hand to finish the sill installment & make sure the sills for the permanent beams was correct & set the support posts in the basement.  We also had a friend's tractor help Expert's bobcat pull the house back over the foundation.  While all this was going on, Expert was jacking and moving supports & placing slider beams & raising & lowering the house.  The process was complete in about 2 1/2 days with care & precision.  Some of the cracks in our house even disappeared.  Great job guys. <br /> Our carpenters returned to build a staircase & some other requirements.  We are working on re-connecting utilities & returning the furnace, water heater, etc. to the new basement.  We plan to move back into the house in the first week or so in November 2013.  It's been a long process, but well worth it.  Made possible by Expert House Movers! <br />"

"We bought a shed from Sam's Club and paid to have it assembled and installed. We had a bunch of crushed rock left over from our above ground pool and asked the shed company if we could use this as a base for the shed to go on top of. They said yes. When the guy came out to install the shed, he was surprised they said we could use that base, but installed it anyway. The floor of the shed was so uneven and bumpy. I found KM Tottle on Angies list and called them. He came right out and advised us that we needed a wood base to go underneath and that he could raise the shed and install it underneath and that would level out the floor. They came on the date and time planned and the work is excellent. The floor is perfectly level. I would hire them again in a minute. <br />"

"One day water started leaking from my ceiling under my up stairs bathroom of my 100+ year old house. I called Maine House Surgeons they promptly came over and went to work on a solution. They found when the original plumbing was put in, some of the floor joist had been cut for the pipes and one of the joist finally broke. Allowing the floor sink an inch or two. We went and picked out new linoleum and materials. By end of the day they had the bathroom put back together and working. They even got the bounce and squeaks out of the floor. All in one day and for around six hundred bucks! <br /> <br />"

"It went well. His idea of mounting a slab of concrete under the substructure of the steps satisfied me that it would work. The resulting slab should support the porch steps for the next eighty-five years, doubling the current age of the porch. The contractor was very knowledgeable with this type of repair work, explaining to me what he wanted to do and how he would do it. It was a bit more costly than I expected, but one does pay for knowledge and expertise."

"AMAZING! Don't think twice about these guys. Glen is punctual, <br /> professional, affordable, creative, and precise. Oh and I forgot to <br /> mention quick! <br /> <br /> A reference from my realtor lead me to him, he <br /> came in lower on any given quote I have been given by thousands. So I <br /> was leary.... What quality of work will I get for the price? Will he have any ability to help us or is he really only good for executing orders? <br /> <br /> In <br /> short, he's AMAZING. He gets in and gets out, the work is awesome... <br /> He's creative. I really can't imagine what my house would look like <br /> without his input, it's a house full of problems, but he's a guy full of <br /> really neat solutions. He helps find resources ("new" used windows) and he can do just about anything. I go to him with everything my house needs, because his price is as amazing as his work... and I'm 100% satisfied with it all! <br /> <br /> I've been through 8 different contractors to get quotes for the same projects, I went with Glen for all of them, and I don't regret a thing. I give his number to all my friends."

FAQs for concrete foundation repair projects in Richmond, ME

Visible cracks, water leaks, uneven floors, or walls that won’t line up are classic red flags. You might also notice sticking windows, doors that no longer latch, or exterior cracks crawling up brick or siding. Even a damp, musty basement can hint at trouble. If you spot any of these, call a foundation pro right away. Early inspections cost far less than waiting until the damage threatens your home’s stability.

Yes, foundation problems impact your home’s value. Buyers want proof that the foundation is stable, and a recent, professional repair can actually boost confidence in your home. You’ll need to disclose the work, but documentation showing the structure was properly stabilized, especially with piers in regions known for shifting soil, often reads as a plus, not a problem. Skipping repairs, on the other hand, can cut your sale price and shrink the pool of interested buyers. Taking care of the issue protects both value and peace of mind.

Foundations are engineered for exceptional longevity when constructed correctly and maintained diligently. Concrete slab foundations remain structurally sound for 200 years, while other foundation types deliver integrity between 75 and 100 years. Regular professional inspections and timely maintenance further secure a foundation’s lifespan and ensure your home stays safe over the long term.
