"After getting a bid from Cady this summer, I hired them to do some work on my house (clean gutters, install gutter covers I'd purchased and fix a piece of siding). They agreed to do the work on September 10 at 1:00 p.m. They didn't show, and they didn't return my calls over the next couple of days. I felt they wasted my time. I gave them an F rating here and moved on to look for other handyman companies. Except that finding another company turned out to be easier said than done (the ones I contacted didn't serve my area or didn't want to do work on a 2-story house or were booked for months). A week later, my contact at Cady called to apologize. He said he'd gone out of town and the people back at the office dropped the ball. He offered to do the work for a reduced fee. I hadn't hired another company and was starting to wonder if I'd find one before winter, so I agreed to hire them. Two workers showed up as promised on September 21. They did a great job and were knowledgeable and personable. My husband and I were very happy with the work, and we would hire them again. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"This was kind of a random project - removal of two very large mirrors in our bathroom. I had trouble finding someone willing to come out for a relatively small but difficult project, but when I called Jeff he responded very quickly and was willing to take it on. He was prompt, professional, and very reasonably priced. I have recommended him to friends already and will definitely be calling him for future projects!"

"Had a vertical metal mirror that I ordered from Amazon that I wanted to mount horizontal. Sent out some requests for a welders through Angie's list and by the next morning Dave reached out. That night I had the mirror in his shop and the mounts perfectly re-positioned. Quality of service was great and price was very reasonable. I was anxious to get my new mirror up so I appreciate the prompt followup and immediate service. Recommended!"

"The experience from start to finish was wonderful!  Dave responded to my phone call the same day.  He was able to stop by my house and provide an estimate within 2 days.  I knew I wanted crown molding installed, but I had no idea how many types there were.  He gave me good feedback on what would look best in my home.  He shopped around and got a good price for the materials.  He painted the crown molding and had it installed within a week.  I'd definitely hire him again! <br />"

"I HAVE USED RICK ON MANY ODD JOBS THROUGHOUT MY HOME, BUT HIS BEST WORK WAS DONE ON MY NEW BATHROOM. WHEN I PURCHASED MY CURRENT HOME IT HAD A ROUGH-IN FOR A NEW BATHROOM, BUT I WAS UNAWARE THAT A SHOWER DRAIN DID NOT EXIST. RICK HELPED ME TO METICULOUSLY PLAN MY BATHROOM PROJECT AND HELPED ME EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. HE ALSO HAD THE RIGHT CONTACTS TO SUBCONTRACT THE PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL WORK FOR A VERY AFFORDABLE PRICE. THE BATHROOM LOOKS AMAZING IN EVERY WAY. I WILL NOT USE ANYONE ELSE ON ANY OF MY HOME PROJECTS."

"I gave an over all C rating...Proceed With Caution We built a new home and wanted our grout/doors treated to avoid hard water stains. I received a quote over the phone. Dave explained to me they charge per square foot. It sounded like a lot to me, so I mentioned that to him and he indicated it would take 4-4.5 hours, which seemed to me, a justification for the service rate. I scheduled a service call. When Dave arrived we spoke and he measured our showers. His new estimate was several hundred dollars more than the phone estimate. Again, he told me it would take 4 hours. Since I had a meeting late in the day I told him to skip one of the showers because it wouldn’t be used much, and he wouldn’t have the time. Then he said “but if I can get it all done before you have your meeting should I do it?” I told him I wasn’t sure, and he should text me. But he pushed me for an answer in the moment (red flag) so I said fine, but only if he could fit it in without rushing. Then on my way out he said, “Do you want me to do the granite also?” Red flag. If the showers and doors were going to take 4 hours, how could he fit in the granite also in that time frame? I said no. I left, and he told me to come back at a certain time. I called my husband to discuss my concerns, and he reminded me that all of our showers have large tile which reduces the amount of grout work significantly. I texted Dave and told him what our concerns were about the pricing. He asked what I wanted to do and I said go ahead. My instincts told me something was off so I went back 2.5 hours after I left. He was all done. His equipment was at our door and he was on a business call. I told him I was surprised that he was done, and I asked if he was comfortable charging me $980 for no more than 2.5 hours (could have been less because I wasn’t there). He said yes. I said, how can you do that and sleep at night. He said, I sleep fine. Then he asked me “how much do you and your husband make per hour?” Red flag. I told him I didn’t see how that was relevant. (However, I have two graduate degrees, a MA and a license in the health and wellness field, and I volunteer ($0 per hour) my work time assisting youth with physical and emotional health needs.) When I refused to answer his question, he then told me that $500 dollars of the fees were for the chemicals he used. In my opinion....unlikely. I take full responsibility for hiring him, and saying yes to the work, and his pricing, while ignoring all the red flags, so I paid him. But I can assure you, if he would have told me he was going to do the work in 2.5 hours (or most possibly less-I wasn’t there) and charge me $980, I most defiantly would have said, no. A few hard water stains never hurt anyone/anything. My lesson learned-listen to all red flags!"

"Scott and team did a fabulous job of painting our home. Prior to painting, his team patched cracks and holes in the walls. Scott personally came out three times prior to his crew's arrival - first to estimate the job and then twice to put paint samples on the walls. In all, we used six different colors which was no problem. Scott also showed up on the day of painting to ensure the crew knew exactly what to do. The painters were very professional and cordial. We loved the colors and workmanship. The house was left as clean as when they started and they took great care in ensuring all furniture was covered appropriately. We have not found any mistakes in the paint job or spills on the floor, etc. Scott's quote was only slightly lower than the final bill due to the trim touch-up work taking a little longer than anticipated. If I had one complaint, Scott was a little slow at times in responding to emails but in the end, would always respond. For a great painter at a reasonable cost, please give Scott and his team a call. He is great to work with."

FAQs for handyman service projects in Richmond, MN

Winterizing shields your home’s structure and key systems from snow, ice, and freezing temperatures. By sealing drafts and tuning up heaters, you cut energy waste, extend the life of appliances and windows, and avoid surprise repair bills. A small up-front investment keeps rooms cozy and protects the value of your biggest asset all winter long.

Yes, it’s important to prepare your sprinkler system for the winter. Blowing out the lines and insulating above-ground parts keeps valves and pipes from splitting when temperatures drop. A quick winterization visit costs far less than repairing burst components in spring, and it ensures your lawn--and your wallet--stay in good shape once the thaw hits.

A full home winterization plan goes beyond sealing windows and pipes. You might schedule a home energy audit, cover outdoor furniture, service the snowblower, swap smoke-detector batteries, add outlet gaskets, and hang storm doors. Each step beefs up your home’s protection, cuts drafts, and lowers the chance of costly cold-weather damage.
