Small jobs welcome

"Juan and Kevin at Aquaholics Pools and Spas were wonderful to deal with. They built us a quality pool, and we're always willing to make adjustments to the plan and talk through design questions as they came up. Their pricing was the best in the area but their quality of work was high. I dealt with one pool company where I could never get responses and I after that company failed to meet contractual obligations, I had this company take over the project. I wish I started with Aquaholics from the beginning because their work speed and quality, along with their communication was better than i could have asked for. I strongly recommend Kevin and Juan for your pool and patio needs."

"They were very professional and very knowledgeable, but slow as molasses. They had very high hourly-rate, which I already knew, but in addition to that, they were charging me travel time, which I was not told. The hourly rate was about $85 but I was told it was $75. It was a guy and a helper, who appeared to be learning on the job.

I had an assistant who was present for this job. We were both there when I asked about the hourly rate. I was told $75 per hour. That's high, but I agreed to it. They were so slow, that I had to constantly ask how many hours they had put in and how many more they expected. In the middle of the job, I asked for a bill, so I would have a handle on the total. The first bill made sense and I was fine with it, though it was expensive. At the end of the job, the second bill I received for the remainder of the work was shocking. I could not add parts and labor and regenerate the figure. I phoned to discuss the bill and the owner and someone else came to the house. They provided me with details, for the first time explaining that on top of their hourly rate, I also would have to pay for their travel. Then the owner told me the labor was $85 an hour and not $75 (can we really assume the electrician didn't know what they charge for his labor?). We then tried to add up travel charge, parts and labor and it still wasn’t quite adding up.

I still was NOT happy with the total. Keeping in mind what the job was, do you think a total $1495.60 sounds fair??? That's for and quot;Install 2 outlets in a kitchen backsplash, move 1 cable outlet, install 1 light above kitchen sink, and install 1 chandelier in hallway, wiring it to existing switchand quot;. They ended up settling for $1283.35, which is far more than average for installing 2 outlets and one chandelier and moving a cable outlet. I think it's absurd. You?"

FAQs for swimming pool remodeling projects in Richmond, VA

You can modernize your pool by adding features like underwater LED lighting, mosaic tiles, or a beach entry for easy access. Incorporating amenities like fire pits, waterfalls, or installing energy-efficient equipment can also give your pool a contemporary upgrade.

To make your pool more energy-efficient, consider resurfacing it with a lighter color to reduce heating needs and evaporation. Installing a variable-speed pump can significantly lower energy consumption. Switching to low-energy LED lights not only saves power but also enhances ambiance. Additionally, updating old plumbing pipes can improve efficiency and reduce water loss.

A pool remodel typically takes between four and eight weeks to complete. The exact duration depends on factors such as the size of your pool, the complexity of the renovations, and the availability of materials and contractors. Planning ahead and coordinating with a professional pool remodeler can help ensure your project stays on schedule.

Remodeling your pool can be a worthwhile investment, especially if you plan to sell your home. A pool remodel can increase your property's value and enhance its appeal to potential buyers. Upgrades like modern finishes, energy-efficient systems, and added features like lighting or fountains can transform an outdated pool into a backyard oasis.

Resurfacing a pool involves applying a new finish to the existing surface to address cosmetic issues and minor structural concerns. Replastering is a more extensive process that replaces a deeper layer of the pool's structural base, impacting both stability and appearance. After replastering, you can choose from various finishes to enhance the design and longevity of your pool.
