"All contractors should follow the services provided by the DryHome Roofing and Siding. They are punctual and professional dealing with the customer. I dealt with Victor first when he came to my home and gave me an estimate. Then Emily in their office to deliver the sign contract since I was close by. Lastly, Wilbert and Victor to install our new Velux Skylights. The entire process, removing the old dome skylights, install the new Velux Skylights, and to install the automatic blinds took about 3 to 4 hours only. I will definitely recommend this company to my family and friends. Good job."

"Rebuild was excellent to deal with. With the recent wind storm, all of the roofers I contacted were scheduled out. Rebuild kept me informed, set a date and time for the repairs and showed up on time. The repairs were completed in a timely manner and look great. Thanks Rebuild."

"My husband contacted the insurance company for the claim and inspection. My husbands co-worker recommended EA Roofing and Siding. They had nothing but praise for EA Roofing and Siding. <br />  We called and spoke with TJ with EA Roofing and Siding  and gave him the inspectors name and number. He coordinated with  inspector. The insurance claim was approved.  The work required three separate teams of expertise which was efficiently coordinated by TJ.   <br />   <br /> The roofing materials were ordered and delivered within the week of the insurance companies approval. TJ was experienced working with the insurance companies process and payment policy. The roofing workers were scheduled the next week. They showed up at 9 AM as scheduled and worked thru the day until almost 9 PM and the roof was completed. The removal of the old roof is very messy but the property was spotless when the crew left. <br />  The next order was for the shutter replacement and siding repair. The workers showed up on time and work was completed and again property left neat. <br /> The next order was for interior painting and again the crew showed up at time we were told and completed the work within the day and departed with the property clean. <br />  We had never had to have this size of a project done before, so you are little apprehensive but working with TJ's professionalism, organizational and communication skills effected a professional, efficient and quality of workmanship. A job well done and to be proud of. <br />"

"They put in a new slider for us a while back.  The previous storm door which had been custom made fell apart and had to be replaced way before it's time.  It was the same installation crew that put in the slider and they did a great job on the slider a year ago November and they did a very good job installing the new storm door. They were there on time.  Same crew as before and they were very good.  A very efficient crew, very pleasant and worked hard.  It was a very expensive door.  I decided this time I wasn't going to stint, since the last one turned out to be a giant fiasco.  Not that it was cheap, but it wasn't that expensive.  This time I went for a top of the line door & it is a lovely door.  I'm hoping that it's the last one I see until they carry me out of here feet first. They were good.  They were on time, they were efficient, they were pleasant and they answered my questions.  On price, I didn't do as much comparison shopping on that one.  I can't really say. I can't tell you yes or no about the price.  I really didn't do all due diligence in price, but in every other way they did a great job."

"I'm a relatively new homeowner, so after a storm damaged my roof, I had no idea how to get my roof repaired or how to navigate the home insurance claim nightmare. I was so grateful when my friend's husband (who is a contractor specializing in home insurance jobs) recommended I call a company local to me called American Custom Contractors. My friend's husband told me he had worked with the company previously and knew that the company had good people, does good work, and is trustworthy. I'm happy to say that he was 100% right. Initially, my home insurance company only wanted to pay to replace a few shingles on my roof, but American Custom Contractors advocated on my behalf, and we were able to get the home insurance to replace my whole roof! There was months of back and forth with the home insurance company, but American Custom Contractors really allayed my anxiety during this whole process. In fact, everyone I met and spoke to at the company knew exactly what they were doing and were polite and professional. I felt like I was in good hands during the entire process. I'm happy to say my roof is now brand new and beautiful. I highly recommend American Custom Contractors for their superb customer service and high quality work."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Ridge, MD

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
