"Our "only" negative comment about Ground Zero Shelters is that they do not come to a persons residence to give the sales pitch and demonstration. You must go to their showroom or see their product at a home show. This being said, we were extremely happy with the sales experience, reminders and installation of our shelter. They called about 10 days prior to the installation for a reminder, their installers called the day before and the morning of the installation to remind us that they would be at our home at the designated time. They showed up as promised and were completed with the installation in less than 1 1/2 hours time! Thank you Ground Zero!"

"Work went well; however, my windows are not as sound proof or energy efficient as I thought they would be so Rolox will be coming back out to check on their installation. My check was lost in the mail and I received harassing and threatening calls and Rolox was about to put a lien on my house and charge me a $495 fee and 24% interest rate but halted when they received my reissued check that I had previously indicated to them was in the mail when they continued to keep calling asking for payment."

"Ernie Haas provided a very thorough examination of our roof which enabled us (after much back and forth with our roofer (DCF Contracting)) to ensure that all necessary and required repairs were made to our roof. Mr. Haas stayed in contact with us for more than a month to ensure that any questions or issues we had were addressed."

"We are very happy with them so far. They did a very good job. There is one area where they left the window out just a little bit because they needed the house breathe and if that they pushed it all the way back it probably would have put pressure against it and cracked the glass, so they knew exactly what they were doing. We are really happy with them. If you look at the windows from outside they look like they are tinted. We were very impressed. We are very, very happy. They did a very professional job. I am happy all the way around. This company knows exactly what they are doing. These guys, they came in and they had this done in half a day. These guys did not take a break or sat down. These guys worked."

"I contacted Professional Roofing from a referral from a friend after hail damaged my home. My friend is such a stickler and gave them such a glowing referral that I couldn't help but call them! They answered the phone in a pleasant courteous manner, gathered my personal information including what it was that I was experiencing (not just, "what's yer address..."), set an appointment right then and there and asked if there was anything else they could do for me. Very Professional. The rep came out (I say "rep" because he didn't try to "SELL" me anything, he answered all my questions, even the silly ones, and offered me some very nice simple options. He did tell me that there were other products/services his copmany offered and asked me if I would allow him to make me aware of them before going on. He had been so nice and polite I said yes, not something I normally do. It was actually short and painless. He helped me with my insurance summary (I didn't know what half of it meant) and made me aware of how to get the rest of my settlement. It was then that he made me aware that if I were so inlcined, they could take care of my gutter/downspout, siding and windows too. No pressure at all. What a relief! After answering my questions and asking a few of his own, he asked if I had any other questions and presented me with a blank proposal, he had me tell him what options I wished to selcect, then added them. I was very satisfied with the dealings I had had with them so far so I decided to sign up. I was not dissappointed. The crew was polite and EXTREMELY HARD WORKING! They had quite a job to perform, I had several layers of old shingles on my home and new plywood had to be installed (which they handled with my insurance company seamlessly). They worked diligently and made sure that I was taken care of, ie. asked me if I needed to move my car out each morning before they began work, made sure that the gate was shut when moving from the back yard to the front yard so my dogs didn'tget out (even though I was keeping them inside they still did every time!), even covering things in my yard and putting down plastic tarps since there was so much roofing being taken off. After the roofing was completed and everything was cleaned, again, the gutter crew came out two days later. Same thing. Quick, courteous, professional. The gutter installer suggested a couple of changes in my downspout locations to improve drainage in my back yard. Someone who actually cares! What a plus! Thanks, Chris! After the gutters were complete the siding repairs were made and several "window wraps" were replaced. Some rotten wood was discovered while they were working on the windows, I recieved an email at work letting me know. The email showed pictures, (they'd already showed my wife but wanted to keep me informed too) and had a scanned work authorization so I could see what they were proposing to do and how much it was going to be. This too they submitted to my insurance company so I could be reimbursed for it. After everything was said and done, they cleaned up very well, they made sure we were satisfied and called our insurance once from my house to make sure there wasn't anything else they needed to submit so we could be reimbursed. They were nice, KNOWLEDGEABLE (wow!), and very professional, just as their name implies. We have a rather large home and I was worried initially that the process would take forever or that bad weather would spoil the process, not at all, they handled it very well. I would (will) most definitely use them again. My wife is already talking about the next project we could use them on! We have already referred them to our daughter and son-in-law as well as several neighborhood friends. KUDOS GUYS!Replaced"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Riley, KS

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
