We then realized that we would like to have it done in time for a big event, and they moved up the start date to suit us. We had no landscaping in our backyard, so we just had a jungle of weeds and some old concrete in weird sections. They removed the weeds and a small chunk of concrete, then poured a new patio. They then used the existing concrete divisions to design a yard with gravel and plants, with a patch of mulch for a play area.
