"Some water was getting into my basement. I couldn't identify how the water was getting in. So I started contacting all these basement companies. Each one was telling me (based on a video I shot of the issue) that they couldn't help me. At first Luke with Attack a Crack said that, but he was prompt to get back to me, and he suggested that I talk to a handyman. (Other companies didn't give me suggestions). I said the handyman doesn't feel comfortable fixing it. So Luke suggested that I take some pictures of the issue. I sent him pictures and based on my pictures he told me where he thinks the leak/crack is coming from. He was very specific too. He said its coming from your front porch step, not one step below. And sure enough, I lifted up the mat on the front porch and there was a crack in the foundation. (I poured a cup of water over the crack and it started to leak into the basement. We've found the culprit!) He was so patient with me, and allowed me to ask all these questions. And he let me send all these pictures via text. Which saves both of us a lot of time."

"Jason Kirby and crew did an excellent job, with fine craftsmanship and attention to detail. This job was to replace a stucco and half timber exterior wall on a historic 1920's English Tudor, so that it matched the detailing and craftsmanship to the rest of the house. Jason assembled a highly skilled team. They competed the job on schedule, Jason communicated regularly about status and next steps, and I couldn't be happier with the result (looks original to the house). Jason's fees are very reasonable, and I would recommend him for any job involving masonry, having worked with him in the past on brickwork as well."

"All Star recently completed a large hardscaping project for our new pool in Wellesley. The project included several retaining walls, sitting walls, water feature, pool coping, and patio -- all done in a classical design with field stone, bluestone, and cobblestone pavers. We couldn't be happier with the final result - it's beautiful. The All Star team has great attention to detail, takes the time needed to get everything right, and consulted with us throughout the construction. Orli, the owner, had many great design suggestions, and was on site most days working with his crews. All Star is more affordable than many other landscape contractors in our area, but they still deliver very high quality and has the right focus on customer service."

"We just purchased the fence, they did not install.  Not because we didn't want them to because of price.  It was just that we had our own landscaper do so because it was part of a bigger project he was already working on.  Mr Fence as I said above was professional and helpful.  Treated us great even after we said we would install ourselves.  Dan at Mr Fence actually worked with our landscaper to pick up the fence and tell him about nuances he'd need to know.  Top notch place, very competitive pricing. <br />"

"It was an excellent experience start to finish. Louie, Andrew, Lourdes, and the whole family were a pleasure to work with. They are true professionals who take pride in their work. They do things the right way and don't take any shortcuts. They were meticulous in their planning and explained everything along the way. There were several unexpected obstacles that came up and Louie and Andrew were able to resolve them and still finish the project two weeks ahead of schedule. Louie was always reachable and always on time, and did a fantastic job of communicating throughout the entire project. I would highly recommend Ranieri Construction to anyone looking to re-do their pool patio. They are pool experts and caught alot of things other concrete contractors wouldn't have. I am extremely pleased with the results and plan to use them again for other work in the future."

"It went great. Jason hand picked the flagstone for the walkway and found some with fossils. Yes I have fossils! He's in constant contact to ensure things are going as expected. So easy to work with. The patio and walkway came out great. So happy with them both. (and Jason) <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Rockland, MA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
