"This project expanded greatly from the original quote. Levi worked with us and all extra projects were very fairly quoted. There have been delays and there is still a finish job to be completed. The delays really have not been the fault of the contractor. I would hire him again."

"They arrived right on time on the morning of the service. Once they arrived they got right to work. Several guys started to remove the old plastic edging and dispose of it while another was edging the flower beds. Once they had the area prepared they got right to work installing the concrete edging. The job was done in no time and looked wonderful. I have received several compliments on the job they did. <br />"

"Would not use again. The initial sales person was pleasant and seemed knowledgable. Although the service area was clearly marked by NC811 our internet/cable line was cut. American patio did not seem concerned with the disruption in service and the inconvenience caused. We waited 24 hours for cable/internet service to be restored and another 2 weeks (with a cable strewn across the yard) before the cable service contractor was able to come back and dig up our yard to bury the new cable."

"Nearly a month late from scheduled start date. Was to begin on 5/1/13. actual start date was 5/27/13 . I rearranged my work schedule two weeks in a row to be available only to get an e-mail or phone call the evening before that there was another delay. Delay was supposedly weather related. National Weather Service reports 4 days of measurable rainfall in new Hanover County within the past 30 days. <br /> The staining results of the front porch are hideous. We will most likely have another company grind this off and look to another type surfacing. <br /> Received e-mail invoice with an hour of project completion asking for payment. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"They seem to be pretty reliable. They fixed the problem for a while. It was ok. It was fine. For what they do, they do fine. We later had the crawl space encapsulated, and that was much better, because it protected the crawl space from animals and all that stuff. They took care of the water problem."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Rocky Point, NC

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
