"We hired Deck & Shed Pros for a diverse set of projects: a custom-built shed, replacement of our window wells, and some repairs to our stone patio. And we couldn’t be happier with how all of them turned out! During the contract phase, Jim, Jen and Victor were incredibly patient in answering all our questions. They were also very flexible on any design issues, ensuring that the projects could be done exactly how we wanted them. For example, they were able to use the same brand and color of vinyl siding on the shed that we recently had installed on our addition (so now they match perfectly), and they adjusted their plans for the window wells to accommodate our chosen style of wells/covers and the necessary depth for digging them out. When Victor and his crew came to install the window wells and make some patio repairs, the work was done beautifully and efficiently. The crew worked really hard, and they cleaned up the yard afterward so there was no debris left behind. One basement window pane got cracked as they were removing the old brick-and-concrete window wells, and they did a wonderful job of replacing the whole window with plexiglass (which was a painstaking task given the age of the window and how it was installed). People don’t usually think of window wells as beautiful, but the new ones that they installed for us (galvanized steel with polycarbonate covers) have totally transformed and modernized that part of the house. Victor and his team were so friendly and easy to work with. They also poured the concrete pad for our shed, making sure it was smooth and level—and in the exact location that we wanted. Victor even spread grass seed and straw over any disturbed areas. When the shed was ready for installation, the manufacturer’s crew came out to build it on-site. They were super professional, and the whole thing was done in about 6 hours. It’s made of high-quality materials and it’s gorgeous to look at—really complements the style of our home. A couple items had been missing from the shed kit, so someone came right out a few days later to make the necessary fixes. When we saw that it needed a single step under the side door, Jim had someone here within about a week to build one from scratch. Everyone was very prompt and responsive to any issues that came up. Through all of it, the communication with Jen and Jim was outstanding—they were always reachable by phone or email, and Jim would send out email updates every Friday, to keep us apprised of any developments or changes to the timeframe. I highly recommend Deck & Shed Pros for sheds, decks, or any other outside contracting work. (If you’re not sure whether it’s something they do, just ask! We didn’t know what kind of company to hire for the window wells, but they got it done with no problem.) We are thrilled with the results and wouldn’t hesitate to call them again for other jobs in the future."

"These guys were awesome. From the planning to the building of our project. They gave us an accurate estimate. Even added an accessibility ramp at our request and fit it perfectly on the deck they built for us. They were able to start our project a week ahead of schedule and even worked in weather that was very cold. They were efficient and quick. "When we contracted with Bartz Landscaping in November 2019 (after getting estimates from three contractors), their BBB rating was A+. Now it is down to C+, and I can see why. We had a problem with rainwater flooding in our back yard, and Bartz provided two options, a yard length drainage ditch (rock filled) or French Drain (with no ditching necessary) Strongly recommended was the installation of the supposedly much superior French Drain, eliminating the need for any ditching, and it was this for which we opted. This was done in November 2019, but the flooding continued afterward (it would drain after an hour or more, but we were told that there should be no pooling whatsoever with the French Drain). They came back a couple of times to make some minor modifications, but none of them were effective. The only way to eliminate the flooding was for me to dig my own partial trench, something that should not have been necessary given the French Drain. When I asked them to replace my trench with a “professional” one as part of the original contract to alleviate the flooding, since the French Drain had not lived up to their promise, they said this was extra and would require additional cost. Supposedly an estimate was sent, but it was never received - The following was my last correspondence with the contractor on 11/09/2020, to which there was no response; "When you send estimate, include diagrams for both the estimate work and the no-charge options (i.e; remove pop up and recontour exit area). The original estimate never arrived for the creek bed and pipe extension. I do not agree that this should be considered additional work, as the original goal was to eliminate the pooling completely, which the French Drain alone has not done. Nonetheless, send the estimate and we will decide. Thank you" Since there was no response to this final email, I felt that the contractor wished not to be bothered by me anymore. Having already sunk $1500 into the French Drain which, at best, was only partially effective, I opted not to waste more money with them to do something they should have done for free as part of the original promise to alleviate the flooding problem. I lost confidence in their alleged “expertise” in drainage. Also, note that the response statement "we made professional suggestions and they were not followed (due to not accepting the proposal) is not accurate. We were given two alternative proposals originally, creek bed OR French Drain, the latter being strongly recommended over the former as much superior eliminating any need for any type of creek bed. It turned out that a partial creek bed was needed after all, which I dug myself. There was never any discussion to accepting BOTH proposals, especially since the French Drain was supposed to stand alone to eliminate the problem without any ditching."

"American Home Contractors and Hugo in particular were great to work with. We had multiple jobs done which required several trips and Hugo kept us informed and worked around several weather delays. He relocated and installed a new attic fan, hooked up the bathroom fan to a new roof vent, insulated a pipe in the attic, installed apron flashing on four windows, painted the flue vent, reconnected some lose siding and replaced three pieces of rotted trim and painted it. The work appears to be top notch and we appreciate the hard work and long hours Hugo put in! I would definitely recommend this company and most certainly Hugo to everyone. We also had American Home Contractors replace our gutters and install gutter guards. They did an excellent job with that as well."

Yanni Agouridis, our project consultant, was extremely helpful in working out the details of the engagement at the outset. Blase Skully, project supervisor and quality assurance manager, was always available to answer many questions and provide advice as we refined the scope of work and the project progressed. He made sure they delivered exactly what we were seeking to accomplish. Blase was also sensitive to ensuring that the historic look of the house was maintained and enhanced by the materials they used and the work they did. The result is beautiful.
