Typically this result's in a client calling the first Google/Yelp plumber with decent reviews and having an 'emergency' house call. Plumber vacuums up the flood and clears the sewer line. You panic and sign the contract. A less panicked approach: 1. Every house should have a wet/vac (~$100). 2. Every house should have flood monitor near floor drains (~$15) 3. Vacuum up initial flooding yourself. Free standing fans help dry floors. 4. Reduce water usage (no washing machine/dishwasher/disposal), quick showers. 5. Make sure flood monitors are in place and have wet/vac ready if needed 6. You can probably go a few days without further flooding, allowing time to collect/evaluate multiple project bids. 7. We have an older house with known sewer issues and decided it was time to install a 2-way cleanout and have the whole sewer line hydro jetted (basic high pressure water blowout). 8. Submitted request on HomeAdvisor on Sunday morning and had 4 plumbing companies call within 30 minutes. Set up appointments for Sunday with all four companies. 9. Bottom line: While all the companies submitting bids were responsive and courteous, each company was pretty aggressive about saying they had the best price and can start immediately for a slight discount. RooterGuy's bid for the same work was 50% less than 2 other companies and 30% less than a haggled quote from 3rd company. RooterGuy was quick, courteous, on time, transparent, and did a great job. They started Monday morning and we were operational by mid-afternoon Monday. Hydrojetting and full camera scope was completed Tuesday morning. We will use RooterGuy for future plumbing issues."

"I called Kahar Plumbing late Thursday afternoon;. They called me early Friday morning and were at my home by 2:30 that afternoon. "Was doing a late night load of laundry and the security alarm to the house went off. Checked the security panel and it indicated water was detected in walkout basement (there is a water detector near the basement drain near the water heater). Sure enough as the washing machine was emptying, water was coming up out of the drain. Stopped the washer, got as much up with the shop vac and then pulled up Angies list (I love Angies list). We are out in the boonies and decided to use emergency service (it is now 2:00 am) and not wait for a normally scheduled service call. Roto-Rooter had 4 great across the board all and quot;Asand quot; reviewed and had emergency services. Gave them a call and they said they would be out between 3:00 and 3:30 am. Jack Kitchen arrived right at 3:00am and got to work. I showed him location of the basement drain and the drain lines before they go into the basement floor. He checked what was draining well and not draining well to help isolate the location of the clog. Jack also checked if there were any issues with the sewer line as it exited the house and also as it arrived at the septic tank through direct inspection outside. He ran his sewer auger down the drain towards the line exit of the house and broke up the clog on the first shot. He totally cleaned up from the work he did. Very professional and pleasant to work with and that is saying something now that it was 3:30am. My wife slept through the whole saga and was quite happy that she did not have to be involved. I would use them again in a heartbeat!! <br /> Total cost was $199 with $100 being for the emergency call. Very very reasonable in my opinion."

"They did an even bigger job.  They dug up a drain pipe from my basement out to the street and they replaced drain pipe on another rental property.  I was very impressed on the young man that came out, he really knows what he is talking about.  Plumbing business was fair on price.  They had the job done in a very short period of time.  That is probably one hundred twenty foot hole dug up, six feet deep to replace the drain. "
