"We got our roof replaced with T-Rock roofing and we more than impressed with the results. We used Brady, one of the project managers, and he took care of everything and made it super easy on us. We also used them for our AC units not just our roof and love all the work they did. Highly recommend for any roofing or construction needs!"

"The many recent hailstorms wreaked havoc on our roof. We knew we wanted a reputable roofing company, yet didn’t know who to contact! We certainly never considered any of the door-to-door roofing solicitors! We were extremely fortunate to find Scott Beres with New View Roofing Company on Next Door Neighbor! He met with our adjustor and together inspected the roof. He is very knowledgeable, personable, and professional. He explained the process his crew would conduct in the removal and replacement of our roof. He told us the time and date to expect his crew, who arrived on time and promptly began the repairs. The crew did an excellent job of providing us with a new roof and cleaning up all debris and nails associated with it. We are thoroughly pleased and most grateful for the privilege to meet and work with Scott and his crew! We want to “pay-it-forward” in recommending Scott Beres with New View Roofing to you! Please do yourself a favor and call or text Scott at 972.821.8539. His email address is: scott.beres@gmail.com. You can expect a prompt, courteous and professional response. Pat and Loretta Tomes."

Customers say: True professional

"Meeting Russel was a huge blessing. We had considerable damage to our property after the Memorial Day ‘24 hail storm. He was inspecting the roof of my neighbor and offered to take a look at mine if interested. I didn’t realize the damage hail could do to a roof. He was here when the insurance adjuster was here to ensure the adjuster saw all the damage. He guided me through the insurance process and was my advocate. Russel has the experience! He is about to replace the siding on my home due to the hail damage, and after that he’ll be replacing our front porch. If you want someone who is honest, reasonably priced, diligent, and more, Russell/JP Allen is your go-to."

"Overall: excellent price, good work, great level of professionalism.
I contacted Paul and he came right out and did an estimate.  We negotiated and agreed that day on the work to be done and a price, which was very good.  His team started work within the next couple of days.  They arrived on time and were very professional, and Paul was very personable.  He's been a little tough to pin down since his work has now taken him a little ways away from where I live, but generally he has been responsive.  We've exchanged several phone calls and MANY emails.
The ceilings in my place are very high and slanted, so having them come out and remove the popcorn ceiling at a great price was a bonus.  LOVE the recessed lighting.  The quality of work was pretty good (popcorn removal, bar grout, bathroom tub wall repair, light fixture replacement, painting), with the exception of the downstairs bathroom.  I do realize that it is difficult to accomplish straight lines on textured walls, but I think this room could have been done a little better.  I will go back and touch up what I can since they left paint for me.  Also, there are a couple of things remaining to be done (texturing on the wall in the downstairs bathroom where the light fixture was replaced, and hanging a new light fixture in the upstairs bathroom since the old one was broken during the work), at which time I expect to upgrade the quality to "A."
I appreciate the work the team did.  I wish I had been in town more during the process so that I could give feedback along the way rather than at the end.  It would have saved them time from having to come back to my place to address things (which were not huge), and it would have saved me from the angst I felt until things were done.  The important thing is that Paul stated many times that he wanted me to be happy.  I want that too. :-)  So he's followed through on his word to address anything I wanted done - including referring me to a company for my carpet and getting a quote for countertops - and I expect that he will be back to my place as soon as possible to fix the last couple of things.  I'm getting happier and happier each time I see him!  My place is looking great.  Still trying to figure out how a painter keeps his white clothes white!

FAQs for natural slate roofing installation and replacement projects in Rowlett, TX

A slate roof features thin tiles of natural stone installed over a solid deck and underlayment. Formed under intense heat and pressure, slate is exceptionally durable and delivers a distinctive, high-end look. Because the material weighs far more than asphalt, most homes need added structural support before installation.

While upfront costs are higher and routine inspections are a must, many homeowners choose slate for its unmatched longevity and curb appeal.

Slate stands out for its 50- to 200-year life span, low maintenance, and classic aesthetic. It’s fire-resistant, energy-efficient, and often boosts resale value.

On the flip side, slate runs far more per square foot than asphalt, weighs up to four times as much, and demands a contractor who specializes in the material. Tiles can crack on impact, and repairs cost more because the work is slow and precise. If your budget and structure can handle it, slate delivers top-tier performance for generations.

Natural and synthetic slate aim for a premium, stone-like appearance, whereas asphalt focuses on affordability. Real slate runs $10 to $30 per square foot installed and lasts up to 200 years; synthetic slate costs $10 to $15 and tops out at 50 to 100 years.

Standard asphalt averages $3 to $8 per square foot and needs replacement every 20 to 30 years. If you want the slate look without the full price tag—or extra roof weight—synthetic is a solid middle ground.

With routine inspections and prompt repairs, a natural slate roof can last well beyond 100 years; some hard-slate installations reach the 200-year mark. Soft slate falls in the 50- to 125-year range, and synthetic products last 50 to 100 years.

Remember, flashing, fasteners, and the underlying structure may need attention sooner than the stone itself. Severe hail or fallen limbs can also shorten life span, so schedule periodic checkups with a slate-qualified roofer.

If you plan to stay in your home long term—or want a standout selling point—slate delivers strong value. Although installation costs are high, owners often recoup 60% to 70% at resale and enjoy lower replacement cycles than asphalt. The stone’s durability, energy efficiency, and timeless curb appeal also appeal to eco-conscious buyers because fewer roofs end up in landfills. Just be sure your framing can handle the weight and that you budget for occasional specialty repairs.

Skip the DIY climb if you have a slate roof. Slate may be tough against the weather, but a single misplaced step can crack a tile and create a leak path. The surface also turns slick when wet, upping the risk of injury. Professional crews use staging and hook ladders that spread weight across multiple slates, protecting both the roof and the worker. To inspect or repair slate, call a roofer who specializes in the material.
