"Very well, Very prompt response to request for estimate. Open about process, notified when all the parts were in, called ahead to see if they could come early. Plumber was upfront that he was a plumber and not a phone app expert. Installed shut off valve and took me through all the ways we could bypass if system ever failed. Fast."

"Excellent!!! The plumber was informative and so quick. He went over what he would need to do and how much it would cost. The person that took my appointment was also very courteous. They said between 8-10am and he was there at around 8:30am a lot sooner then expected. I really appreciate that as a single female he didn't ask personal questions, if I was married or what my husband, boyfriend or father could do to help me like other service people have from other companies."

"I can't say enough positive about Mike Boyle's professionalism, courtesy, and knowledge. He was to arrive between 10a-12p. He called promptly at 10:00 to say he was on his way and arrived 10 mins later. In under 2 hours he pulled out our old dishwasher and installed the new one, tested it out, gave instructions on its use, and advised us on a couple of other plumbing-related issues. He was very courteous and friendly. He thoroughly cleaned up the work space and even cleaned up debris left behind the dishwasher by the previous installer. We will have him to perform a plumbing job scheduled for next month and would not hesitate to call him for every plumbing job hereafter. He is in Stanardsville, just outside of Charlottesville, and can do our work with just a few days lead-time. <br />"

"I asked friends' for a recommendation: a plumber to come and explore why we had just received a huge utility bill. Without hesitation they recommended Laco, saying they had been impressed by Tony's prompt reply, and his concern for his staff (in this current pandemic season) and consideration of their home. So I called them, and Tony was immediately helpful and informative. He phoned this morning to ask if it would be ok to come earlier than the scheduled time! Unheard of in my previous experiences, and I agreed. Ricky just left - and we are so thankful and impressed. Prompt, professional, kind, courteous, and informative. We hope we don't need a plumber again soon - but if we do we will be calling Laco!"

"It went really well. My water pressure gave out suddenly the night before. Wayne worked me into his schedule that morning, since I had no water. After checking the water tank to make sure it was OK, he and his helper pulled the pipe and wire from the well (not an easy task, especially on a hot humid Virginia summer day) and located the problem. It turns out that the previous installer had neglected to install spacers to protect the wiring. Every time the pump turned on, the wires were hitting the well casing, and eventually they shorted out. Wayne picked up new wiring and spacers in Charlottesville (I live in Ruckersville, VA, and our local suppliers did not have grounded wire in stock), returned to my place, and finished the work before 2pm. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Ruckersville, VA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
