"Avi came out promptly and gave me a quote for my 3 bed 2 bath 1410sf home. I liked him from the beginning. He climbed up on the roof to assess current condition and stated it needed replacement. He sat down with me to discuss all options. He answered my questions and put me at ease. We discussed schedule and I was happy he could begin in about 2 weeks. Other quotes I received were 3 month lead time for installation. I checked out his license and insurance and all current. I signed a contract and next thing I know the roof was installed and passed inspection. He even cleaned the leaves out of my gutters! His crew was friendly and cleaned up each day. "Our experience with Ray O. Cook went very well!! Our HVAC system was the original when the house was built over 40 years ago. My husband's excellent Do it Yourself skills allowed him to maintain it and keep it running all these years. We received estimates from 5 different companies. Although the other salesman/estimators were good, Paul was the best. He explained all our options more thoroughly than the others and his recommendations for installing the HVAC system for our needs and house size made the most sense. The price was very reasonable and fair. The installers, Willy and Rick T were awesome. They both worked professionally and took the time to answer any questions either one of us had with the install process. They also did an excellent cleanup job. Erick, the install manager was very knowledgeable and helpful. The insulation was put in by Sierra Wes, a company Ray O Cook contracts with and they did a great job also. Lastly, the Ray O. "I contacted Brazil for estimate on a roof replacement from shake to tile. I provided enough specifics (included structural report) regarding what I wanted that they were able to come to the site, measure and then provide back an estimate with enough detail that I was able to compare the bid to competing offers. The bid was detailed and the price quote fair for the type and size of job. They were willing to sit down to go over the details, but since I was already very familiar with what the job would entail, this was not required. I went with another vendor who was able to provide a custom roof tile at a slightly lower overall bid, but again given the size of the job, differences in materials or type of instal methods used etc. most bids can't be compared as apples to apples. That said, all in all they were professional and courteous and the bid was fair. Size of job 50K+

"Due to some renovation and repair work, there were large areas of ceiling over the kitchen and master bath where the insulation had been removed. The rest of the house had old cellulose insulation that had been settling for several years. All in all, in the winter cold the lack of insulation was noticeable. RJL Installation ran a special with a discount on Angie's List to pay $149 for $500 worth of installed attic insulation.  I bought the special and was contacted by RJL. I was really only wanting the areas where insulation was missing to be covered, but it turned out that the cost was not much greater to get the entire attic covered. I was somewhat taken aback by the total price ($1,149.50 on top of the original $149.00), but decided that the insulation was needed in any case, so that was why I gave the C rating for price. I felt a bit trapped because I had already paid for the discounting and didn't know how to get that money back if I had decided that I didn't want to pay as much as the final quoted price.
The installer thought that there should be some sort of access port or window or something to get into the attic from outside the house, and seemed surprised that the house was built with only a hallway ceiling opening for attic access. Once we established that that was, indeed, the only way to get up there, the installer proceeded to bring a large hose through the front door and the hallway and into the attic. When he was in place, his assistant started feeding compressed bales of fiberglass-like insulation through a machine that broke up the compressed insulation and "fluffed" it and blew it through the large hose to be blown in place. When the installation work was completed, I was invited to climb the ladder to take a look at the coverage, using a large flashlight as my light source. From the ladder, the insulation looked to be level across as much of the attic as I could see (almost all the attic, in truth), and appeared to be deep enough to be effective. When they were finished with the installation, the installer and his assistant borrowed a broom and managed to sweep up almost all of any insulation that had found its way to where it was not wanted.
All in all, an acceptable job. I thought about giving an overall rating of B, but except for the price, the other categories rated an A.

"It was a Big Deal purchase. It worked out pretty good. I didn't have them do the whole two hours because it was kind of redundant. I just needed him to kind of really work on the areas that needed done and he pretty much did what he could with cold water because I didn't ask for the heated water. I didn't realize that there were other ways to actually get things done. I had him do the whole thing in 30 to 40 minutes. It turned out pretty good. I wasn't expecting brand new. It was a lot better than what it was. I think they came two weeks after I purchased the deal. I wasn't expecting a lot. I got more than what I was expecting so that was cool."
