"Excellent workmanship, great natured team. Last minute changes were made because of my inexperience. Designer Concrete responded within 15 minutes of my Angies job submission. Rome had the job done within 4 days of initial contact and it looks great. The team tolerated my 3 large breed dogs really well (they all own dogs, so there were plenty of wet noses in their 'business'. Although you'll pay the price for travel, it's well worth it to escape mediocre Kitsap County concrete work."

"John answered my request for quote quickly, and was one of the only responders to ask questions in order to give an accurate quote. We really appreciated his friendly professionalism, attention to detail and great communication. Once we got our building permit he an Jim came out and started work immediately. We would highly recommend John John Construction and would not hesitate to hire them again."

"Very happy with the patio extension we had completed by Ross Concrete. Sonia came out for a personalized assessment and quote, while in comparison the other companies we contacted just gave estimates over the phone without actually coming to see the site. John and the crew did quick and neat work, and the resulting project looks wonderful! Highly recommend their services!"

"Island concrete did a great job for us. They installed retaining walls of concrete and block, curbs, walkways and a pickleball court. They were a good value and professional. We would hire them again."

"Bruce from Shoreline Concrete was one of the few people to respond to my request for a quote for a relatively small project. He came out to see the site within a couple of days and gave me a verbal quote that ended up being the minium cost they would charge for any project. It was considerably lower than the other quotes I receieved. The crew that arrived to complete the project was courteous and on-time. They explained each step of the project to me. Throughout the process Bruce was very responsive to my e-mails and answered all of my questions. We are happy with the results and would hire this company again."

"I hired Fernando and his crew after interviewing about 7 different contractors. Fernando stands out as a great communicator. He was happy to discuss every detail before during and after the work. I was also impressed with his commitment to quality. He really cares about doing an honest job so that he can rest knowing everything he touched is better after his crew left than when it started. I'll definitely be hiring him again for future projects!"

"Orlando and crew did a great job with landscaping a joined backyard and our front yard. He had to take direction from multiple parties and get 4-5yds of mulch into a tricky close quarters, hilly portion of land in South Seattle. They cleaned up the dirt that was inevitably tracked onto our front porch before leaving, too. Highly recommended, will use Groview for yard maintenance in the future!"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Seattle, WA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
