"It went great. Wonderful communication on date and time they could accommodate us. The job was done top notch, the sidewalk and steps are great and it’s a pleasure to drive into the garage without having an issue with the sunken apron. I did have one question which was the holes they drilled to raise the areas are quite dark and I was it sure if they would “cure” to a lighter color or not. Greg was quick to respond to my question with a “usually they do”. They also caulked the gaps."

"Chris & his crew arrived on time, they had to remove the existing tree, plant the new tree and create a stone tree well around the nw tree.  It turned out just like we wanted.  They also installed some small shrubs for us to improve the overall appearance of our backyard.  We love it and get compliments on it all the time. <br /> Previous to doing this work for us, Chris & his team installed a paved patio and sidewalk in our backyard that we love.  That's why we knew we needed to go to him when we had this job come up.   <br /> We highly recommend this company for anyone who needs pavers, stone work or landscaping done.  They are reliable and do beautiful work! <br />"

"<p>These guys walk on water. First they show up on time!!! Second they are some of the nicest people we have ever met. The quality of work is beyond anything we could have hoped for.</p> <p>When the insurance company tried to pull a fast one with the settlement, Mike stepped up and went to bat for us and he fixed the problem with our insurance. It did not matter to him, he was going to get paid either way, but this is the kind of stand up guy Mike is.</p> <p>We where going to have the roof put on last fall, but Mike was concerned about the weather getting cold and encouraged us to wait until spring. He went up and repaired the problem areas and sealed the leaks so we could make it through the winter. Never charged us a dime.</p> <p>When it came time to do the roof, the material showed up on time, all the colors were correct. The crew showed up when they said they would be here and work hard all day. The clean up was incredible. I think the yard and landscaping was cleaner after they were here then before the work.</p> <p>We can not say enough great thinks about Mike and Over Under Construction. He is not only our only contractor going forward, but we consider him a friend.</p> <br />"

"The service was wonderful. I selected them after a poor experience from a different company and I have used them a few times since them. The service has been excellent. They are very efficient, cost effective, and they have been great to work with in the past. I have no doubts in using them in the future. They are very professional and responsive. The experience has been very good."

"It went very well. The original consult with Jack was very helpful. He provided us with a clear walk through of the product and what we could expect as well as an estimate of service. There was an extensive variety of colors and patterns that allowed us to really find the right options that would complement our plants, mulch and exterior of our home. On the day the concrete was laid, the founder himself was present and helped lay out a a design that really complemented the aesthetic that we had strived for (very flowing and natural) and helped pick out beautiful natural tones for the color of the concrete. The completed design and product is absolutely beautiful and we're very happy to know that this product will last for several years. I highly suggest this be the first place you go to if you are looking to do any sort of paving project. You won't regret it! <br />"

"It was super. Kevin and his team do great work; the attention to detail is key. And when they finished, the job site was spotless. New patios look great. Used EZ Masonry four times now for a variety of projects, and I would (will!) absolutely use them again."

"It was kind of a nightmare getting the excavation out and the concrete down because we have narrow gaps between houses with a pretty steep downward slope. Our yard was trashed due to the weight of the material they were hauling up the hill and the fact that the ground was wet. This wasn't their fault though. Then my Hunter Hydrawise irrigation controller kept using its local schedule even though I had turned off the WiFi schedule. So, that caused delays because they didn't want to try to roll down concrete on a wet hill and I couldn't blame them. Some of the problems with the job are probably my fault because I wasn't careful enough to make sure everything I wanted was on the paperwork. I asked for a downspout to be run under the concrete. It didn't happen. I thought a pump truck was going to be used to get concrete to the backyard. I was wrong and that wasn't quoted. The concrete itself seemed to have a decent amount of holes and rough spots. It was colored concrete and the color was inconsistent. One corner looks like they added a layer of concrete halfway through the job to fix a rough corner. That weird corner had some of it crumble off while the next contractor installed a retaining wall around it. In summary it was kind of a rough project. I give them credit for great ideas they shared with me during the design visit, though. Experience isn't a problem with them I don't think. But I wish it would have gone better. I wish the quality was better. I wish my project felt a little more important to them rather than just one of the many jobs they turn out over a summer. To be honest, maybe with these concrete contractors my experience was typical. At a minimum maybe someone reading this can avoid some of the mistakes."

"Drew did a phenomenal job. Not only did he fix the issue at hand but he created a thing of beauty. He explained all things in detail. Communication throughout the entire process could not have been better. I am not the easiest consumer and he far exceeded any and all of my expectations."

"O'Malley Concrete installed a new concrete driveway, sidewalk, front steps and front patio to our Eden Prairie home in June 2020. Kelly was much more competitive in terms of pricing than the others we had out for a quote. Unlike his competitors who install a 4" pour, Kelly's standard process is a 6" pour. He gave his opinion on what would look best, but didn't push any additional services beyond what we were looking for. We were so impressed that we decided to add a front patio to the project. Kelly goes above and beyond in his work. He removed and hauled away rocks along both sides of the driveway and widened the driveway. He also removed and hauled away a basketball hoop at no extra cost. He added dirt and grass seed on both sides of the driveway. Kelly is absolutely meticulous in his work, and his entire crew was professional and friendly. We would highly recommend O'Malley Concrete to anyone without reservation, and he will be our "go to" concrete provider for all future projects. There is no need to look further. Do not hesitate! Hire O'Malley Concrete and you will be very glad you did! Mary and Dave"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Saint-Stephen, MN

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
