"We are very pleased with L&R on all the projects that we have had completed in our yard. All the projects were well planned, designed and installed with care and respect to our property. They have done multiple landscaping projects that have improved our yard, including regrading, new shrubs, stone path, granite stone steps in the back yard up to a raised bed garden on the most difficult berm. Also installed brick side walk and under ground drains for rain run off, and replaced our deck with a two level deck and stairway. This past spring we called on them to do a yard cleanup and mulch refresh throughout the yard. The latest project was a some what emergency call when we had to have a new electric service installed, and as part of that work a growing rod had to be installed which required part of our paver sidewalk to be removed and reinstalled. They responded quickly, and made a problem disappear. Everyone at L&R is very professional, friendly and efficient from inception to completion and we will continue to rely on them for any and all projects for us and highly recommend them for any projects big or small."

"This spring we were in search of a company to pour a concrete patio as we were removing our old floating deck. We came across Clark Companies at the White Bear Home Show @ The Hippodrome. They followed up promptly afterwards and set a time to come out for a quote. They answered all our questions and helped us envision what it could look like. They were the only company we had out that actually cared (the others you probably hear advertised all the time). "Artistic Landscapes Inc. was one of many companies we talked to and received quotes from about installing a boulder retaining wall in our backyard to replace aging railroad ties and decking. The backyard is sloped with very limited access to move materials and equipment, therefore many of the companies we spoke with responded with either limited options for landscape ideas or unaffordable prices. Chris came out, listened to our ideas, gave us some of his and told us exactly what we could expect; he quickly put a bid together and we were elated it fell within our budget.  <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />He and his crew not only worked around the limited access issues, but challenging weather including rain and wet conditions/clay soils. In addition to an approximate 60 foot long boulder retaining wall, they installed 33 paver stones for a pathway, steps as a feature area, additional large boulders for aesthetic enhancements and graded the area to address critical storm water runoff needs. The placement of each stone/boulder was clearly thought through, resulting in a unique and attractive wall versus many of the standard "one on top of the other" looks. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Toward the end there were a few minor tweaks we requested to which Chris and his crew were more than happy to accommodate until they knew we were completely satisfied. Clean up was fabulous too; our front yard damaged by major equipment during the process (which we knew was necessary) was fully restored as promised! <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Chris was good to communicate with and very trustworthy in terms of what he committed to delivering. "If you are looking for paver patios, the installers are great. They did a very nice job, and were professional throughout. They would clean up every day before leaving, addressed any questions we had timely and we are very satisfied with the results. We also added a gazebo to our patio design. It was very clear that gazebo's are not one of their strengths. We encountered many issues with the design and build of the gazebo long before construction began. We had hired Josh in October to complete all elements of the landscaping project the following spring. Over the winter months, we had asked on many occasions for catalog photos, or anything that would confirm what the finished gazebo was going to look like. The pictures were never sent and the only indication of what it might look like came just a few days before the project began and was a very small (1x1) black and white picture. Our expectation of the gazebo was that the material used would be cedar. We had asked for glass windows that could be closed during the cooler and winter months. We were assured on many occasions that cedar material and glass windows were what we were going to get. As they were starting to build the gazebo, the material was not cedar, rather it was pressed wood. As the windows were installed, they were not glass (despite being told that very day they were glass), instead they were a plastic film over the screens. We were left in a very difficult position where we were essentially forced to concede on both elements. While the gazebo is functional, and will suit our needs, had Josh sent just ONE picture sometime in the 5 months or so prior the project start, we may have been able to make a different decision. Related, and something else to be aware of. When trying to reach Josh about start dates, etc I would say he was not always as responsive as I would have expected. Furthermore, there were multiple instances where what was promised was not delivered. Again, if you are looking at a paver or patio project - these guys are great and I would recommend their workmanship. However beware of anything more than that."

"<p>We had previously worked with Chris and his crew on replacement of a failing timber retaining wall with a contoured block version. That earlier work involved demolition and removal of treated posts and lumber while extending a pre-existing section using an Anchor block product. The segmented, angular wall was replaced by a contoured design that provided more room for a prized shade tree. During this initial, 2012 phase, we found Chris very easy to work with. He was receptive to our concepts and offered constructive comments- we didn't want a deferential contractor that would let us make bad choices. Chris speaks up in a respectful way. The crew happily worked with street pavers that were on-site. <br /> That earlier work turned out so nicely that we resolved to continue the project the in 2013 as our vision for completion firmed up. There are obvious advantages to completing the entire job at once, but even using design software, it is difficult to feature how it will all turn out. Change orders and call-backs are no fun for anyone. For us, it worked to live with an incomplete project for a few seasons to really know what we wanted.<br />  <br /> The 2013 work would involve constructing low planters in both the front and back yards, extending the patio work in the back yard, adding edgers and completing sod work. Chris returned with the same crew (a plus for us) and was rarely not on site himself during either project. This work was complicated by an impending family reunion. To avoid damaging existing landscaping, most of this second phase was completed with wheelbarrows and hand tools.  Once again, there were design and material selection considerations as well as technical issues, including rainwater management.  There was no objection to the owners contributing labor. In turn, we tried to stay ahead of the crew or out of the way.</p> <br /> The entire project is now complete- we are delighted and have received nothing but compliments. <br /> <br />"

"From the beginning of our search for a company to install a new deck for us, we were impressed with the responsiveness of Outdoor Solutions and the honesty and demeanor of Jim, the owner. He showed us many samples and options for our project and offered good advice on the choices we eventually made. Our 2-man crew was headed by Derrek, who is a master carpenter and figured out an innovative solution for an existing deck light that now does not protrude thru the deck floor. Derrek and his helper Roberto were hard-working and professional. They showed up early and worked late when necessary, and debris was hauled away each day. Our project took longer than estimated but that was because Derek was committed to pleasing us and went above and beyond what others might have done to assure our satisfaction. We absolutely LOVE our new maintenance-free deck and the enhancement it has made to our back yard. One small side note which meant a lot to me was that Christian gospel songs were played as background music while they worked. My husband and I are so happy we chose Outdoor Solutions and recommend this company without any hesitation."
