"I called because my dishwasher was draning water back up through one of the sides of my kitchen sink. Listed on their website is free estimates. I scheduled an online appointment for the same day which was very convenient. Time frame given was 12:00pm-2:00pm which was perfect because it was about 10:30 when I booked it. They actually called at 11 and asked if I was available to have someone come out at 1130. I said yes and was very happy with the service so far. The rep arrived and just started working. About half way through the job he said, "I know I didn't give you a price before I started but it's like $150". I was shocked! All he had done was taken a PVC pipe out from under the sink and rinsed it out. It was just a small clog. I said that's a bit much for the work done. He said lowest he could go was $100. He went on about how this usually runs $350. I gave in and paid $100 for a clog to be cleared. I'm upset he didn't tell me what was wrong in the first place and I could have saved some money. Service was great and he did a good job, I mean the sink drains now but I wish he would have gave me an estimate as advertised on their website. <br />"

"Drain was blown out partially and serviceman wanted to take drain pipes apart but I refused and cleared with drain cleaner. I also refused new water switch which he suggested replacement for. Old switch worked fine once it dried out."

"We had already spent 2 days going though everything Home Depot had to offer for our clogged drain. It continued to get worse until there was standing water in our tub and everything from all other sources (sinks, washer, toilet, etc) was pushing water up through the tub drain. I was worried we wouldn't be able to get anyone to come out on a Saturday. My initial call was around 8:30 am and went to voicemail, but as I was leaving a message they were calling me back. The woman who answered the phone was very polite and courteous. I explained our problem and she said she would call her plumber and call me back with a time. It was that simple. Marc was there within 2 hours. It turned out the clog was outside our house. I had taken the kids out of the house to keep them from flushing toilets and running water, so I wasn't home to see how it was resolved and can't speak to those specific items. What I can say is that our water usage was back to normal within 2 hours of Marc showing up. He also said that if we use their service in the future he would be the one to return unless it was another emergency call and another plumber was on call. I like that this company will send out the same person, as that helps keep things consistent and cuts down the time in explaining previous work. I hope I don't need a plumber for a long time, but when I do I will call Will's Plumbing again."

"I really do not know why some people have zeros with their reviews when they provide the praise they do. Dave had a major job at my residence. After the septic tank was pumped, he found major issues with the 85 year old sewer line. Tree roots had broken into the line, several sections of pipe had breaks, and of course, the pipes are under concrete! Thanks to his and his son&#39;s expertise with camera technology and state of the art equipment, I now have clear drains and sewer line and two access pipes. Because of the camera, Dave &amp; Justin only had to dig up about 4 square feet of concrete to access the line. It took several days and a great deal of money, but it is worth every penny. I have a toilet and walk in shower that are no longer backing up, a drain in another bath that has not drained properly for several years, that drains perfectly. Previous plumbers would fix the problem, but it would re-occur. The last plumber, who has been extremely helpful, advised get a camera guy this is more than I can fix with a snake. Dave is extremely knowledgeable and a great diagnostician. He has good advice for how to prevent issues with drain and sewer lines as well, and even provided medicine, given with a glass of warm water every couple of weeks (down the drain, but NOT the toilets). I MADE SURE HE GAVE ME HIS BUSINESS CARD so I have it in the file."

"These guys are amazing. Meticulous, efficient, personable, conscientious, and knowledgable... they quickly isolated the problem and took care of my clogged drain in my very old (nearly 100 years) house. I would trust these guys for any job -- large or small -- and having used other plumbers in the past, City Base Plumbing is my new "go to". I highly recommend them. <br />"

"The Hotel technician arrived on time, was courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. He disassembled and examined our existing, Glacier Bay RO system and determined that a charcoal filter cartridge had leaked some of its charcoal into the system, which clogged the lines. We wound up having to have another RO system installed."

FAQs for drain clog or blockage clearing projects in San Antonio, TX

Snaking a simple clog near a tub, toilet, or sink often takes about five minutes. Deeper blockages along the main line can stretch the job to a few hours because the pro must feed extra cable and may need a camera to confirm the pipe is clear. Either way, specialized tools help pros work quickly and keep your drains running for the long haul.

Aggressive snaking can scratch pipes, push debris deeper, or even crack older lines. That risk is low with an experienced plumber who matches the cable size to the pipe and eases the snake through bends instead of forcing it. If you’re unsure of your technique—or your pipes are already fragile—calling a licensed pro is the safest, and often cheapest, move.

Start with simple barriers: mesh screens on every tub, shower, and sink keep hair, food bits, and jewelry out of the pipes. Skip harsh chemicals; a monthly flush with hot (not boiling) water clears light buildup without damaging plastic lines. Finally, practice smart disposal—no grease, wipes, or kitty litter down the drain—and schedule routine cleanings if you have older plumbing.

Roto‑Rooter typically charges a flat $160 to $450 for standard snaking, which may include a quick sewer inspection and basic clean‑out. Exact pricing depends on the clog’s location and complexity. Repairs or part replacements fall outside that flat fee, so ask for a line‑item estimate if your tech spots broken pipe sections or recommends additional work.

Most liquid cleaners rely on caustic chemicals that eat through hair and grime—but they also erode metal and even some plastics over time. Repeated use strips protective pipe coatings and can leave you with leaks or premature failures. If hot water or a plunger doesn’t help, call a plumber for mechanical removal instead of pouring more chemicals down the line.
