"Very easy to reach. The people answering the phones were extremely knowledgeable and spoke English fluently. We faxed back the contact and had an appointment in a few days, even though they were very busy. We contacted many companies before using this one, because of their expertise and specific plan for inspection. Our situation was unusual. We bought a house where the acoustic ceilings were removed without prior testing. <br /> The tester came on-time and was very professional. He knew exactly where to get the wall samples, so they would also have joint compound samples. He cleaned up after himself. We got the reports exactly on-time. We would use them again if we need more testing. <br />"

"Excellent company! Very easy going in scheduling and doing the job AS SUPPOSED TO BE! They recommended a company for the drywall after the asbestos were removed. However, we said we will shop around. They were fine with the idea. We did go with the company that they recommended, though Synergy workers were punctual, professional, and on task. They have a supervisor who came twice to check on the work performed and the person who verified that no asbestos was present before we would come into the house. We did not do the whole house; definitely we will contract them when we need to do the rest. Everything as should be!"

"Communication was OK.  David Mouser was a bit spotty, but generally responded well. There was a lot of back and forth, until it was finally settled that the original contractor would pay Alliance to clean up the mess.  <br /> <br /> Alliance came in, set up, and in one day cleared the job. <br /> <br /> I took a little off the rating because I never quite got the followup I expected.  The first crew left all the sheeting and negative air pressure equipment in place and just left.  I later learned that's because a second crew is supposed to come by, do testing, and tear down.  I never saw the results of the testing and air sampling.  It was unclear how much of a mess the original fraudulent contractor had made: for example ducts may have been dragged through a suspended ceiling.  Having some test results would have given comfort that the job is really "done".  Instead the job was very constrained to just one area. <br /> <br /> Also unfortunately: one old unused asbestos boot got forgotten.  It was not on the bid list, there is no blame here, it just got overlooked.  The sad part is to clear that up means facing the entire process again: plastic sheeting, negative air pressure, bunny suited young workers... all for about 3 minutes of work to yank the duct. <br /> <br /> --------- <br /> Side note: all the workers were young.  Asbestos removal though may be a better job for the old.  If an Asbestos cancer takes 30 years to mature, then 60 or 70 year old workers face far fewer risks."

"I needed help evaluating the safety of my deck which was being rebuilt. David was very helpful, accommodating my schedule by coming in the evening. He was so thorough, courteous, informative and went above and beyond pointing out potential problem areas and giving me guidelines. I am extremely grateful and impressed with the outstanding customer service. Thank you David! :-) <br />"

"We were refereed to ERI by the drywall company that we had approached for pop corn ceiling removal as the test for asbestos came back positive. I worked with Steve Tamayo from ERI. He was able to quickly come in to provide the estiamtes and was able to fit our project with in their schedule ASAP as we had a very aggressive move in date.He was available every single time I had called him or texted him with any questions. <br /> He not only got he work done in the estimated time, but also referred us to the folks for testing air quality after abatement and Dry wall company for texturing and wall paper removal. Even though, we used the reference he had provided for air quality testing, we ended up using some one else for drywall texturing. <br /> All in all, very satisfied with Steve and his crew's work and professionalism. They even cleaned the house after the works was completed. I would highly recommend them! <br />"

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in San Lorenzo, CA

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
