Small jobs welcome

"Shofar was wonderful to work with; they repaired our patio slab. Removed /tore up damaged concrete, tore out the tree roots which had caused the problem. and then laid a new slab. They were so professional, timely, efficient, and communicative! I highly recommend this company!!!!"

"Zamora showed up on time and I explained that I wanted a strip of concrete removed from my driveway to improve curb appeal and allow for some privacy between neighbor. He listened to my concerns and asked great questions about project. <br /> After thinking it over he gave me his opinion on doing the job would actually not be a good idea. We are selling our house and being that his wife works in real estate he knows what people are looking for. The job I wanted done would turn buyers off. <br /> I appreciated his honest opinion even though it meant that he lost out on doing a job. <br /> I wish I could've hired him! <br /> My parents used him to install a concrete and brick driveway in town and he did a fabulous job for them. Really hard working. <br />"

"Charles and Rachael are wonderful!!! They went extra miles to find the exact material I wanted for our steps and the work Chuck did was exactly what I needed. Another very important thing I like about them is the transparency about the cost of labor and cost of the materials. It is the best way to build trust with the customers! I have a long list of projects I will be relaying on 805 Custom Projects :) Thank you Rachael & Charles !"

"Larry, the owner, came to give the bid.  He arrived on schedule, was friendly and knowledgeable.  He shared that he's been in the concrete business for more than 30 years.  He took measurements and answered all of my questions.  I received three bids for this job.  One was quite high so I toss it out and the other two were close with the other bid about $200 less.  It was a close call, but I decided to go with the low bid. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in San-simeon, CA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
