"The finished job is excellent .On the day they were working on the roof, the company had some problem that they didn't have the color of the  shingles that we put down in the agreement one month ago , but they can find the product within two hour.  I gave credit to Filipe that he could solved the problem. We are happy with the outcome.  The roof are very strong, excellent quality work and beautiful.  We recommended this company to everyone who need a new roof.

"C & C Roofing guaranteed us no leaks and even promised to come back out if the leak continued anytime within the next few months after their repairs. We are pretty much through the rough weather season and that was not necessary as everything seems to have been taken care of properly on the first visit."

"Steve and his crew are too notch! From quote to completion we had a great experience. Gibson roofing was easy to communicate with, efficient and did high quality work for a fair price. I would highly recommend them to anyone thinking about a roofing project."

"PDX Roof Care checked all the boxes and then some: It is highly rated by Angie’s List and BBB. It has professional liability insurance. Dimitri came out and climbed onto the roof and took photos before providing an estimate. He didn’t just utilize a ground level or Google Earth view. His price was very competitive, even more so given he spent 7 hours for moss removal and gutter cleaning. The quality of his work and the attention to detail was outstanding. Lastly, he did an extremely thorough cleanup afterwards. We couldn’t be more satisfied with this personable and hard working young man."

"I received around 10 quotes for my roof. As a former carpenter I knew what I was looking for. I was happy with the quote but more impressed with the install team. Those guys worked hard and I am confident they did the work right. All I needed. Installing a roof isn't rocket science. You just have to follow certain principles which these guys did."

"Carlos couldn't have been better.  The roof is very steep and not visible from the ground.  We haven't had anything done to it in its 9 year life so we wanted the roof inspected and appropriate repairs made.  Carlos gave me a call when he was on the way.  He checked the roof and found no problems, but did give me some information about roof treatments (they don't do spray treatments.)  He also checked the gutters (they also do gutter cleaning) at my request, but the foam inserts were fine and nothing needed to be done.  AND he refused payment for his time as he considered this to be an estimate.  We will definitely us Roof Rx when we do have a roof or gutter problem!

"After contacting several roofing contractors I choose Giron roofing because they offered the best price for the product. Roger was very professional about what needed to done. The crew showed up, went to work removing and replacing the roof even though they had to work in the rain. The cleanup afterwards was great considering the conditions. I have already referred a neighbor to them."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Sandy, OR

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
