"Extremely happy with them! Their office contacted us within minutes of us requesting a quote on a Friday afternoon. One of many things I loved is that they are Veteran owned and operated, and they offered a military discount. Zack was the electrician and arrived at my house around noon on Monday. He was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. He was able to diagnose and repair my problem within 1 hour. I would highly recommend VDV Electric and will definitely be using them again. It is hard to find honest people and from 1st contact and throughout the entire experience I felt comfortable and that they are trustworthy. Thank you Zack."

"Unprofessional, Dishonest, and Left Us in the Cold If you have an emergency, do not call these people. total disaster from start to finish. It started with the dispatcher, who couldn't even manage to take down a phone number correctly, I had to repeat the number to her 5 times. Then, I was promised a 2:00PM-5:00 PM Friday arrival 01/09/2026. Pablo, the technician, didn't show up until nearly 7:00 PM on a Friday night. I was grateful for this, but it gets worse from here. When Pablo finally arrived, it felt like a total scam. He admitted he could have installed a generic part to get our heat running, but since it was late on a Friday, he clearly just wanted to go home. He chose to leave my family in the cold rather than doing his job. ? The Dishonesty: To make matters worse, he didn't even provide an estimate that he said he would provide via email. "

"The work fully met and exceeded our expectations. It was done promptly, courteously, professionally, and with uncommon skill. Mario did a thorough job of bringing electrical wiring up to code, and a building inspector who evaluated the finished work had high praise for Mario's workmanship. "

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in Santa Fe, NM

There are several telltale signs that your home is due for an electrical upgrade. You may need to rewire your house if your lights are constantly flickering or your circuit breaker keeps tripping. If you feel mild electric shocks when you touch light switches, hear buzzing sounds, or notice burning smells, you may need to rewire your house, too. Discolored or burnt-looking switches and faceplates are another crucial warning sign.

Properly installed copper wiring in a residential property can last as long as 50 to 100 years in some cases, but many homes over 30 years old are due for an upgrade. That’s the timeline that many experts recommend, even if it is only a partial update to accommodate technological advancements, increased power demands, and changing safety requirements.

At $3 to $5 per square foot, the cost to wire a 2,000-square-foot house ranges from $6,000 to $10,000, on average. This can depend on many factors, like the age and complexity of the house and how easy it is for contractors to access the areas they need to get the job done. Opening and repairing walls can further add to your total cost.
