"Del Rey Paving exhibits predatory sales practices, failure to deliver on promises, inadequate design, errors in construction, failure to abide by warranties, seeking funds out of contract in order to maintain “good faith” relationship, unresponsiveness, and poor service. After a very high-pressure sales pitch (disguised as a design meeting) with all the accoutrements (fancy PowerPoint demonstration, a copy of their impressive surety bond, commitments that they will stand behind us, and a discount that magically expired the same day) and a commitment that the 25-year warrantee covers everything but seismic and trees, Del Rey Paving completed our $72k backyard paver project in September 2023. Over the next few weeks, the pavers began to separate, sag, and crown. Also, the drainage in many areas was toward the house, not away from it. They did come back a couple of times to remove pavers, recompact, and reset. However, when failures continued, they asked us to let the system fail for another year so they would only have to do a major rehabilitation once. When that year elapsed, they were nowhere to be found. Very difficult to get them to come back out. Then, instead of fixing the failed system, they had a soils engineer evaluate. The engineer's soils report described the underlying soils in precisely the way we had described and physically showed them two years prior to the Senior Design Consultant. The report also recommended construction means and methods to properly support various structures, including paving. The report recommendations were vastly different than how Del Rey Paving actually constructed the paving system two years prior. They recently sent an email essentially saying they didn’t want to keep spending money on their failed system. They also claimed the warranties would not cover the repairs. They are attempting to simply walk away, leaving us with an unsafe, embarrassing backyard and a worthless major investment."

In 2021, we hired a company to design and build an outdoor kitchen, which included the remodeling of a carport and construction of a concrete area for a fire pit. It required two gas lines, water, electrical, tile work, wall veneer, and the installation of a grill, a fridge, and an icemaker. They did the initial designs and everything that followed was a disaster – they were slow, and sometimes altogether unresponsive. We broke ties with them in 2022 and found Greenworks. The difference was night and day. We called Greenworks on a Thursday, and they came to our home that Saturday. Tal was amazing. He clearly knew what he was doing and had lots of ideas that improved upon our initial designs. He created a text chain that included my husband and me, and asked us to text him anytime with questions. (And when we did, he responded right away.) Within days we had an estimate, which was very reasonable. We hired them and they started a week later. Our onsite project manager was Enrique, who is a total pro. Here’s the thing to know – this company moves fast! All of the delays you hear about with construction and contractors in Los Angeles does not apply to Greenworks. Their team showed up every business day like clockwork, and each day we saw significant progress. When we made a few additional requests that were not part of the original plan, they were very flexible and did not charge us more. And they have some real talent – the guy who created our custom granite BBQ countertop is an artist, and the work is beautiful. Bottom line, we are very happy with the work and would not hesitate to hire them again."
