"At first it went well and we were pleased with work and the final esthetics of the landscaping. The owner at the time recommended zoysia grass in sod form. I was concerned about this type of grass because our backyard is partially shaded and heavily shaded in spots. A1 assured us that zoysia was the best type of grass for that space and we reluctantly agreed with their recommendation assuming they were the experts. This was in June 2023 and they began work in July 2023. Work finished was tree planting, pine straw installation and prep for the zoysia. This took about a week. The owner came to me stating that he needed $2000 upfront to secure the sod and I paid him in cash for that. Months went by with no sod delivery and the reason given was that the sod distributor in South Georgia couldn't find any quality enough sod to sell us. The sod was finally delivered in October which I felt was very late in the season to be planting a summer grass like zoysia but A1 assured us that it would not be a problem as long as it is kept watered. Now, in June 2025, half of the sod has died off. We have kept it watered, fertilized, and cut to the correct length. We feel it died because it never had a normal hot grass growing period and the root system never took. Plus, we feel that the partial shade may have contributed to its dying off, as well.
