"<p>Paul and Frankie completed the work agreed to per a written scope of work and then some without any additional charges; move pool furniture and grill from the deck; paint decking around the perimeter of the screened cage.  The pool deck looks great and I would definitely hire them again and will recommend them to anyone looking to get their pool deck resurfaced. It's too soon to tell how the surface it going to wear with time but if it should require anything, I feel confident that Paul will come out, assess the situation and suggest the best way to take care of it. There are no warranties on cracks, crack repair, wear surfaces or water ponding but that's standard with most contractors. All of the existing cracks were fixed however and even planter areas that had been filled with concrete 12 years prior were prepped and covered with the new finish in the best possible way. If you are looking for an honest contractor that works with integrity and does what he says he is going to do, you should call Paul.  Also, the owner and his assistant do the work; they don't subcontract the work out.  The owner shows up, works the job and is always available to answer questions.</p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

"They did an excellent job. Part of my driveway was crumbling and they came out and ran  a pipe underground from my roof  under the concrete to the run off. They cut the part out of the driveway that was crumbling and repaired it and reinforced it with steal piping. All my neighbors came to check it out and were very impressed. "Dave and Donna were quick to respond to our message through Angie's List.  We were shown small tile samples of different colors of the texture and colors that would be applied.   A quote for the job was sent quickly.  We decided to add replacing the pad in front of the garage instead of just having it resurfaced. We agreed to the new quote and work began just a short time later. <br /> Dave subcontracted the removal of the old concrete pad to another company.  That company was not as prompt or as punctual, but the job did get done.  Dave's workers were waiting for the other company to finish so they could get to work.  <br /> Everything went well until the colors on the pool deck were not what we thought they were going to be.  Dave was extremely responsive when we left a message shortly after they had finished that we were very disappointed in the color around the pool deck.  After researching options that might be available, Dave had a representative from the company come out to advise. <br /> Dave gave a great effort to bring the finished  resurfacing around our pool deck to our expectations.  While we can say he did his best, the colors just aren't the finished product we were expecting.  I would advise others to actually check out other finished projects and colors, prior to making a decision.  We were expecting a better finished product.  What we got is ok, not spectacular.  We recognize  this is not an exact science, but it should be closer to what was described. <br /> Dave and his workers are wonderful people to work with and attempt to make the customer pleased.  This was really unfortunate for everyone. <br />"

"<p>Pool Deck Resurfacing:  Modern Concrete Designs Inc.</p> <p>Sergio is one of the nicest, hardest working and most accommodating contractors I have ever employed.  However, the artistry of working with cement is not yet there.  The edges of the work are the most noticeable.  They were scraped to taper them and yes, the residue ended up either in the pool or off the surrounding deck edge.  Much of the new edging did not even cover the original deck.  To Sergio?s credit, he was taught that sealer and topcoat would cover the imperfections.  I spoke with Ash, the president of the company about this, and he assured me that the edges would never be noticed after the sealers are applied.  Totally not true.  The concrete was applied in stages, and the result was noticeable areas of adjoining applications that did not flow smoothly together causing visible ridges between the various applications.  This was to be a stamped Sea Floor project with Shells, Starfish and Seahorses highlighting the underlying concrete.  The stamping sheets had long ago outlived their usefulness as evidenced by pieces of it left in the pool and along the outside edges.  A few areas had left little or no impressions.  The stamper was a ?helper? and this resulted in concrete splatters over furniture and an adjoining wood deck along with the walls and screens on the back porch.  The top coat which contains Acetone was sprayed on and suffered from considerable overspray.  The next morning I discovered a floating sheet of topcoat that covered almost half of the pool water.  This took two days of netting and filter changing to remove the acetone and the concrete residue.  I should note that I was given a $100 rebate, if I did the cleanup myself.  Upon reflection that was not a wise decision on my part to accept.  Sergio with time and self-determination will improve his skill, but at this moment I cannot recommend Modern Concrete Designs Inc. for pool deck resurfacing.  Project cost: $2200, clean up and living with the results, priceless!</p> <br />"

"It was a technically difficult job because the house isn't on a slab.  Dave fully informed us of the potential pitfalls before beginning the job.  The floor is beautiful, but a little more delicate than we would have liked.  I opted for the matte finish.  In hindsight, I should have used the polypropylene finish which is shiny, but indestructible.  <br /> We gouged the floor while installing the washer and dryer.  I called Dave and he was out the next day to repair it.  A concrete floor is not amenable to repairs like a tile floor would be, so you see the repair if you look for it.  Luckily it is in an unobtrusive location.  We are considering adding the polypropylene sealer now to prevent any further nicks. <br /> Dave was friendly, reliable, and responsive.  He was trustworthy and did most of the work while we were not home.  He left everything neat and tidy. <br /> <br /> <br />"
