"After demolishing our 100-year-old barn in the fall of 2018, we hired Jan to build a 30’ x 40’ garage in the spring/summer of 2019. We had extensive fill put on the new building site in the fall. Jan was anxious to begin in the spring, but waited until conditions were right for being sure the fill was compacted correctly. (Spring 2019 was super rainy.) Every aspect of the building was done with quality work. We used LP Smartside siding. The two men that installed the siding did a meticulous job; the caulking was awesome. Everything else was put together professionally. We received lots of comments like “You have a good builder.” Several even commented on how neatly the electrical wires were installed. In addition to the garage foundation, Nate Werner and crew put in a large concrete driveway with sidewalk and parking slab. The road is a little higher than the garage, but Nate designed the driveway so the water runs away from the garage. Once Jan was able to start building, the garage was pretty much completed in three weeks. Jan is very good about returning messages—always within 24 hours. We know nothing about building, so Jan also gave us good advice about some things we didn’t know. Working with Jan and his crew was a great experience."

"I received a phone call about a month after the estimate. It had finally warmed up enough to do the pouring. On the scheduled day, the team showed up on time. The two men reviewed the contract with me and discussed what they were going to do. On the contract, I was given the choice between regular "mud" or the new and lighter polyurethane. I chose the poly. Even though the job took twice the estimate of the volume, I realized that the hole that was washed out used the sidewalk/driveway was larger than we all had known. When they finished, they cleaned up quite well and even told me where I could purchase some cement filler to replace the felt that was deteriorated between the sidewalk sections and the driveway sections. That was why my sidewalk section of the driveway was sinking in the first place. A few hours after they had left, we did notice a crack in the driveway slab above the pour site. This was mentioned as a possibility of the process but we were hoping that it would not happen. It was clearly stated in the contract that any cracks in existing concrete are not the responsibility of the slab jacking company. After all, you can't control the way that that much cement will react to a huge amount of pressure from underneath. That is just one of the risks that you take when you slab jack instead of a total cement replacement. It is now January and we have had no problems what so ever with that section of the driveway. It is really nice to be able to use the snow blower without hitting the raised section of the driveway. This winter, we no longer have a small ice lake on that section of the driveway. I would definitely use this service again if I saw the need."

"Ron originally was going to do more extensive remodeling in a home that I ended up not purchasing. Instead he agreed to do some minor work in my new home. He is honest, reliable, and thorough. I would hire him in an instant for a larger job. <br />"

"This is our second time working with Corey. It was a wonderful experience to work with a contractor that takes pride in his workmanship. Corey had the the wood stained to match our new cabinets and he built a custom front to the bar, it turned out great!  We will use him again to remodel our bathroom. The overall experience was excellent and it easy to work with Cory. He was always cheerful, helpful and courteous and if he was running late he always called. Thanks Corey!"

"ALTHOUGH JACK SEEMED OVERWHELMED AND HAD TO RESCHEDULE THE ESTIMATE, ONCE HE DID COME, HE SPENT TIME WITH US TO EXPLAIN WHAT HE WOULD DO AND ANSWER OUR QUESTIONS. DUE TO WEATHER AND OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES HE WAS ABOUT AN HOUR LATE, BUT HE DID CALL TO TELL US. WHEN THE WORKERS CAME TO COMPLETE THE WORK, THEY WERE LATER THAN WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD BE ON BOTH DAYS (AND DID NOT CALL TO TELL ME THEY WERE RUNNING LATE). WE THOUGHT THAT THEY MAYBE COULD HAVE DONE A MORE THOROUGH JOB COVERING OUR STUFF THAT WAS IN THE BASEMENT TO KEEP IT PROTECTED FROM THE DUST, BUT ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT JACK HAMMERING CONCRETE IS MESSY. OVERALL THEY DID A DECENT JOB CLEANING UP THEIR MESS. THE EMPLOYEES WERE ALWAYS POLITE, AND COMMUNICATED WELL WITH WHAT THEY WERE DOING AS WELL AS WHEN THEY WERE LEAVING FOR THE DAY. THEY ALSO DID A FINAL WALK THROUGH WITH ME WHEN THEY WERE DONE."

"<p>Just wanted to drop a line or two and let you all know how impressed we were with both your workmen and their work.  In today's society, you just don't find companies that really do a great job, they usually just do enough to "get by".<br /> <br /><br /> <br />At times, without their knowledge, I was home and could hear some of the men talking.  Much to my surprise, their language and subject matter were always appropriate.  Don't find that much in the labor force today!  It spoke volumes to me.  When they did speak with us, they were always very kind and informative.<br /> <br /></p> <p>The work that was performed consisted of excavating the dirt to gain access to the footings on both sides of the foundation.  On the inside, they had to bust out the concrete floor and hand dig to the footing in order to install their brackets for the "unified lift system".  After installing the brackets, they attached special hydraulic equipment to the brackets which drove 3" diameter<br /> <br />pipes down to bedrock.  Next, they attached a hydraulic jacking system to each pier location.  Using their special vehicle with a unique hydraulic pumping system they attached hydraulic lines to each location and were able to do a controlled lift.  From what we understand, your company is one of the only ones that can perform this "unified lift".<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />We were taking pictures daily and emailing them out to family and friends who could not believe their eyes!  They started out making our basement look like a bomb went off and when they were done it was swept and looking very nice!<br /> <br /><br /> <br />All this to say that the work done was absolutely astonishing!  We will highly recommend EHM to everyone that we hear may need this type of work completed.<br /> <br /><br /> <br />Thanks so much again.  We were dreading having this work completed, but you all made it so much nicer by your<br /> <br />expertise, kindness, and professionalism.</p> <p>Mike and Cheryl <br /> <br /></p> <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Sheboygan Falls, WI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
