"I had my kitchen cabinets refaced with new doors and painting for the existing cabinets. My home need a face left and I couldnâ  t ask for a better company of professionals to do the job They were on time and very attentive. I canâ  t brag enough on how precise their measurements are. Each door on the cabinets match up just right and even. No paint or paint residue was on anything in my kitchen. My purchase with them was well worth it, and I would highly recommend Quality Cabinet Coating to anyone. My kitchen is gorgeous!!"

"I am thrilled with the look of my kitchen cabinets! The workmanship is amazing! My kitchen looks larger and brighter. I love the cabinet opening beneath the counter… now I can reach everything in that impossible corner cabinet. Thank you, Shane, for an excellent transformation!"

"I hired them to repair some wood rot.  The were on time and mostly professional.  There was one incident that the owner has apologized for (though it was not his fault), and other than this one incident, my contacts with this company have been professional and friendly. <br /> I had more work than the original 4 hours of work through Angie's List, and I hired them to do some repairs around the exterior of the house and then also to pressure wash the house and my deck.  When I was not entirely happy with some of the work done, they sent out someone else who did his best to fix what I was not happy with. <br /> I have called them since, and they have been very responsive and professional.  I will definitely hire them again.  Good people; good company.  <br /> <br /> <br />"

"These guys were very quick to respond from the beginning and willing to answer any questions we had. We originally thought we could only afford to refinish our existing cabinets, but the price we received from DBand J was good enough so that we could replace the cabinets altogether. They were very courteous and even fixed a bathroom vanity at no additional cost to us. I would recommend them to anyone."

"I contacted them through their website and someone called me the same day. <br /> scott came out the day after to do a quote and i went ahead and payed materials that same day. <br /> The cabinets took a few weeks to arrive and a little while to be installed.  <br /> afterwards the granite came in and to be honest, i didn't think at first i would be happy, but for the price, i got an amazing kitchen! <br /> They then sent someone out to do the backsplash. once it was completed i paid them the rest of the labor. <br /> They didn't ignore me, and tried to fix my nitpicked spots.  <br /> overall i am quite satisfied. <br />"

"Same as above- <br /> We really liked the people there, and enjoyed going through the slabs. The company was very patient with us as we took up a lot of their time. We only chose another company to do our work because I didn't like having the countertop's seam located at the middle of the sink, which, from our conversations with them, was the only option. If that's not an issue for you, I would recommend them just for their helpful nature and willingness to spend time with someone who they don't know will hire them. (I can't speak for their actual installation work.)"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Shelby, AL

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
