"Pretty good. Only issue was that we had to go around the house with painters tape to point out the holes that they missed while tuckpointing."

"My house and garage needed tuck pointing. The men arrive on time and worked straight through until they finished. They asked me to look at their work to make sure everything specified was done. They were courteous, efficient and I highly recommend this company. The cost was reasonable. I have no complaints about this company at all."

Customers say: Quality work

"Chimney work was outstanding. The new chimney matches the house brick in color and variations! The house is 60 years old. The mortar work replaced all of the holes and made the walls look new. I would use them for any future masonry or chimney work I need."

"Responsive, prompt and professional. Michael and Eddie have been great and always on time with everything I asked them to do. They demolished and rebuilt the front facade and did a total tuck pointing of a small commercial building I own in Logan Square. Their work is fast and good quality. They always worked happily and like nothing was a problem or a challenge, even when I had three change orders, my fault, not theirs. They're very easy to work with and I recommend them without hesitation."

"Very professional, quick, and knowledgeable. I did my homework on this job to weed out contractors that didn't know, for instance, that old Chicago common brick requires a different mortar than most new construction projects, and not only did Jagra get my quiz question right, they quoted me lower than most of the other estimates. Go with a masonry company for your masonry project, not a general contractor. Would definitely recommend Jagra."

FAQs for brick or stone tuck pointing projects in Skokie, IL

Masons charge between $70 and $110 per hour. A mason may have a minimum service fee ranging from $80 to $300. Most bricklayers offer free estimates and charge only if you proceed with the project. This clear pricing model assures that professionals inspect your property before beginning work and charge based on your project’s actual requirements.

A professional repointing lasts 20 to 30 years without maintenance and extends up to 50 years when maintained diligently. This process protects your brickwork using high-quality materials that ensure lasting performance and durability. Consistent upkeep preserves its strength and appearance, providing enduring protection and enhancing your home’s overall structural integrity for decades.

You know your house needs repointing when you notice clear signs such as cracked, flaking, or missing mortar and visible discoloration on the brick surfaces. Additional indicators include loose bricks, water damage, and gaps between the brick joints that compromise the overall integrity of the structure. Addressing these issues promptly protects your investment and sustains the durability and curb appeal of your home.

A house needs repointing to preserve both its structural integrity and visual appeal. Mortar acts as a vital bonding agent that holds the bricks securely together. When the mortar deteriorates, it exposes the structure to water infiltration and further decay, increasing the risk of costly repairs. Repointing stops decay and reinforces the exterior, ensuring long-term protection.
