"I was overjoyed to find Legacy Painting because I was looking for someone to remove wallpaper and paint. I had had two painters turn down the job because they found out that wallpaper removal was involved. Needless to say, I was overjoyed to meet Amy. She was reliable, extremely hardworking and professional. She did an incredibly immaculate job removing the wallpaper, repairing, priming, and painting the walls in my hallway. She quoted me a price, stuck to it, and got the job done, sometimes working on her own when I had to go out. Since practically my whole house has wallpaper, I will certainly be using her services again. She can definitely be trusted to do a fantastic job! After that project, I hired Amy to refinish my front wooden door which was dry as a bone and mildewed. Again, she did a beautiful job cleaning, sanding, and refinishing the door. She mixed her own stain, consulting with me on the color. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. In addition, for a small additional price, she stained some naughty dog scratches on two other wooden surfaces. I couldn't recommend her more highly."

"I was really pleased with their work, community and quality! They painted my entire house in couple days and came back right after we moved in to do some touch ups! I am already hiring them again to stain our deck. 5 stars all around!"

"I hired them to paint the shutters on our house, and stain our second story open deck, second story screened in deck, and lattice work below the decks which surrounded a ground level concrete patio. While they were pressure washing the deck, they also pressure washed the roof above my screened in deck, removing mold and mildew from the shingles. In addition to those tasks, they fixed a hole in the sheet rock in the ceiling of my garage and replaced lines of bricks on the wall next to my driveway which had chipped and broken over the years. They were extremely careful and meticulous in their work, making sure nothing received paint or stain which should not and did excellent work on each of the tasks they undertook. If I have painting or just handyman work in the future which they are willing to do, I will certainly hire them again. I highly recommend them."

"I contacted Asheville Paint and Decorating owner, Bobby Brown, the end of May. He came to the house and we discussed what needed to be done. He told me the brand of paint to use when we selected our colors and suggested that we get samples and paint a portion of the wall to be sure of the color was what we wanted and explained how colors could look different at different times of day in different lights. Several days later, he sent me a contract which specified the work to be done and the cost. <br /> I told him we were not locked into a specific time frame to get the work done. (Of course, you should set up a work schedule before you sign a contract if time is a factor for you.) Later in the summer we had family coming unexpectedly and we asked him if he could possibly get the guest bathroom done before they came. He very graciously came and got that part of the job done. Also, I decided to have more work done that we had originally contracted and he was agreeable to making the changes. He completed the work in late November. <br /> Mr. Brown came when he said he would. He and his crew were very easy to work with. They moved all the furniture into the center of the rooms where they worked and covered it with tarps or plastic wrap to keep everything clean. We did not have to do anything except remove any fragile items. They cleaned up after painting and put the furniture back before they left in the evenings each day so that we were able to live in our house while they worked. <br /> I would highly recommend Asheville Paint and Decorating for residential or commercial work. <br />"

"Henry Holcombe and his crew have painted our three houses and completed other projects each of which meet or exceeded our expectations. each one was completed on time and on budget. During the work phase, materials are properly stored, and upon finish, the job site is cleaned up. Henry communicated with us from start to finish. His is often on the job site. Generally, members of his crew have been with him for years. The painting jobs include exterior of our personal home with wood siding. Henry recommended a high-quality paint and color appropriate for the design and setting. We are very pleased with the workmanship and quality of the paint. Henry also painted the exteriors of our two remodeled, rental houses both of which were built in the 1930s. The houses show very well and attract excellent renters. Henry is skilled in building and repair jobs. His crew just completed building a four-rail horse fence and have repaired deck flooring for us."

FAQs for small projects painting or staining projects in Skyland, NC

You'll need about two gallons of paint to fully cover your kitchen cabinets with two coats. Since each gallon covers around 350 square feet, it's a good idea to measure your cabinets or use a paint calculator to determine exactly how much you'll need. Starting with one or two coats of primer and then applying two to three layers of paint will give you a flawless, durable finish. Using high-quality paint can reduce the number of coats needed and provide a long-lasting finish.

The best type of paint for your kitchen cabinets is latex paint because it applies evenly and creates a durable finish. If you're painting wood surfaces and need extra adhesion, acrylic paint is a great alternative. We don't recommend oil-based paint for residential use due to its VOC emissions. For finishes, go with eggshell, semi-gloss, gloss, or satin, as matte finishes aren't as durable or as easy to clean.

The best method for painting kitchen cabinets is spray painting because it gives you a smooth, even finish without brush strokes. While brushes and rollers can work, they often leave marks and require more effort. If you're aiming for a professional look, spray painting is your best bet to enhance the beauty and durability of your cabinets.
