"With pleasure, I fully recommend Gamez Contractors, owned and operated by Jose Gamez. In 2024, Gamez Contractors took on a massive remodeling project for me in preparation to sell my home. Jose and his employees completed renovations on three floors, including a complete bathroom remodel, flooring installation, whole house painting, including ceilings, and installing new fixtures, faucets, doors, and lighting throughout the entire home. In addition, he took on a garage remodel, power, washing, landscaping, repairing of my brick front steps, and installations of new screens. Jose also coordinated the installation of a new driveway that was very lengthy and steep as well as new sidewalks around the home. Last, he completely remodeled and stained my old, dilapidated deck, producing gorgeous results that I never would have believed possible. Jose is a hard worker and a creative problem solver. He was communicative while still making wise and budget-friendly decisions independently. "

"The company from initial contact to wrap up was very professional, punctual, and polite. The work was completed in a timely manner. The crew that did the work did a great job of both installation and clean up. There were a couple of minor requests that I had post job that were responded to and completed very quickly. The project manager was extremely polite and responsive to me. Price was extremely reasonable for the job."

"Great experience. They did a great job and we are extremely pleased with the results. Our yard looks great. They trimmed all of the hedges and the shrubs, and cleaned up the garden beds and yard. We plan to hire again to do some landscaping as well as periodic garden and yard clean up. Great service and great prices. Bruce T"

"My old faucet was faulty and needed replacing. Potomac Mechanical Contractors came out with a two man crew, diagnosed the pipe was sweated in from the outside so needed to find where it came into the house. Had to cut open a small piece of ceiling drywall in basement to locate pipe but was able to do so and replace with new faucet that is working great. Deal price via Angie's List was the price paid. Good, respectful workers and prompt response from company."

"Wolfe Mottola & Sons did an amazing job on our new covered deck, gutter replacement and concrete pad. We wanted a no maintenance covered deck that integrated with the house and not look like an add on. They offered suggestions to maximize materials and accommodate the items we wanted. I would highly recommend them. Everything was done as promised. Linda did a great job communicating and coordinating our projects."

FAQs for handyman service projects in Smithsburg, MD

Winterizing shields your home’s structure and key systems from snow, ice, and freezing temperatures. By sealing drafts and tuning up heaters, you cut energy waste, extend the life of appliances and windows, and avoid surprise repair bills. A small up-front investment keeps rooms cozy and protects the value of your biggest asset all winter long.

Yes, it’s important to prepare your sprinkler system for the winter. Blowing out the lines and insulating above-ground parts keeps valves and pipes from splitting when temperatures drop. A quick winterization visit costs far less than repairing burst components in spring, and it ensures your lawn--and your wallet--stay in good shape once the thaw hits.

A full home winterization plan goes beyond sealing windows and pipes. You might schedule a home energy audit, cover outdoor furniture, service the snowblower, swap smoke-detector batteries, add outlet gaskets, and hang storm doors. Each step beefs up your home’s protection, cuts drafts, and lowers the chance of costly cold-weather damage.
