"Very well. Baker tree gave me a competitive quote and addressed the problem intelligently. My large maple tree was trimmed to keep it balanced and erect and removed large branches that were the main problem. The crew arrived on time in the morning and finished around noon. the crew also trimmed three other trees and removed a very large photinia bush (about 30 feet high) and removed the stump from the photinia bush."

"Alex was super! He stopped by one day when he was in the area and saw I had checked them out on Home Advisor and asked about the tree I was interested in having removed. I showed him and he gave me a quote in about 5 minutes. When he came down to remove my blue spruce that had been planted in 1965 so it was pretty tall. He also dealt with my neighbor over seeing all that they were doing to make sure nothing happened to his property. I couldn't believe how quickly they had my tree down. I went to pick my granddaughter up at school and when I drove by because I had another stop before I came home, all the pine branches were down and the top half of the tree was already removed. They cleaned all the pine branches and mulch up and hauled away. I was really happy with the price because in 1995 I had a white pine about the same size removed for $500. I am having the stump removed and wish they had the service offered the same day instead of another contractor but would definitely recommend to friends and family, especially with the great price. Highly recommended."

"I had 4 large dead trees removed from around my house. They were prompt to come give me an estimate and were out the following week. They did an excellent job taking down the trees and cleaning up the mess. The offered stump removal for a separate fee but I have not done that yet."

FAQs for tree stump removal projects in Smithsburg, MD

Always transport chainsaws with the engine off and chain brake engaged. Use the protective bar cover provided by the rental company to prevent accidental contact with the cutting chain. Position the chainsaw securely in your vehicle to prevent movement during transit, ideally in a truck bed or trunk rather than the passenger compartment.

For gas models, ensure the fuel cap is tight and position the saw to minimize potential leakage. Keep the chainsaw away from passengers and other items that could be damaged.

Proper safety equipment is essential when operating any chainsaw. At minimum, you should have eye protection (safety glasses or a face shield), hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs), cut-resistant gloves, chainsaw chaps or pants, and sturdy boots with good traction.

Many rental facilities offer basic safety kits alongside chainsaw rentals. If you'll be using chainsaws regularly, investing in quality personal safety gear is advisable. Never operate a chainsaw without appropriate protective equipment, regardless of the job size.

While rental companies will rent chainsaws to beginners, inexperience significantly increases safety risks. If you've never used a chainsaw before, request a demonstration from the rental staff and thoroughly review the operator's manual before starting. Begin with smaller, more manageable cutting tasks to build comfort with the tool's operation.

For significant cutting jobs, consider either taking a chainsaw safety course first or hiring professionals instead. The learning curve for safe chainsaw operation is steep, and caution is paramount.

If mechanical problems develop during your rental, immediately cease operation and contact the rental company. Most reputable rental businesses will either provide a replacement chainsaw or repair the equipment if the breakdown resulted from normal use rather than misuse. Document the issue with photographs when possible and maintain records of when you reported the problem.

Having your rental agreement readily available when you call will expedite the resolution process. The rental company should adjust your rental period to account for any downtime.
