Small jobs welcome

"This is the company you want to hire! Simply put, they do what they say will do. The quote and payment processes, value, and communication are everything you would expect and more. They finished our job sooner than they promised and gave an education in concrete installation and care. They even left the site as clean as they found it."

Customers say: Terrific value

"There were a of communication (or lack of on the part of the company) and scheduling issues. When the workers arrived they finished the project, but told me they didn’t have a truck to haul away the rubble. I was too tired to argue, so it was left for me to shovel and rake. Later, I noticed that the workers cut expansion joints but did not cut up to the house because they didn’t have the correct tool, so they just left it. I had to call for them to come back and finish it. They also chipped part of the concrete. When I pointed it out, I was told to just fill it with sealant, and it would be alright. The concrete slab is good, but I wouldn’t really recommend them. Too much hassle."

"I had MadeWell Concrete replace my 475 foot concrete driveway in May of this year, 2019. I delayed rating their work because concrete can look good but only time is the best measure of a quality installation. They did a great job of removing the old (39 year old) concrete driveway and preparing the driveway bed for the pouring of the new driveway. They poured the new driveway according to their stated schedule and was finished and gone within 3 days. The new concrete driveway has performed splendidly with no evidence of cracking. One concern that I asked them to address with replacing the old driveway was the slope of the driveway at the entry point at the street. I had experienced my car scraping on the bottom frame due to the rounding of the driveway slope. They changed the slope and resolved the problem and I ve had no recurrence of that since. Alex, MadeWell s sales rep, did a great job of presenting their plan of replacement and his promises and assurances were kept. I would use them again without hesitancy."

"I hired Jose and his crew to come in and excavate some existing concrete on my driveway and replace it as well while adding on an extension to the driveway. Jose called me and came out the same day with an estimate which was a tremendous value for the work that he and his crew would do. (his was the best of 5 bids) He showed up the next day very early and worked all day and within two short days he had busted up the old concrete carried it off and formed out where the new concrete would go and had it poured and completed within 48 hours. Wow!! Tucan Concrete is professional, courteous, organized, on time, and the quality of their work is top-notch! Hire this company! Murfreesboro, TN"

FAQs for concrete driveways & floors installation projects in Smyrna, TN

Whether terrazzo is better than porcelain or ceramic tiles for a kitchen or bathroom floor depends on your design preference. Terrazzo can last a long time, but so can a properly installed ceramic tile floor. According to the National Association of Home Builders, the lifespan of a ceramic tile floor is 75 to 100 years, similar to terrazzo.

You should clean terrazzo floors like you would marble, even if there’s no marble in the aggregate. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch the polished surface, and steer clear of acidic cleaners like vinegar, which can damage the surface. Instead, use plain water or a neutral cleaner to mop the floor. Then, use a wet vac or squeegee to remove the dirty water. Regular buffing with a soft cloth can help you maintain the shine.

Terrazzo is made by mixing an aggregate like glass or stone with a binder like cement or epoxy. The mix is made and poured into the prepared space you designate. Alternatively, you can purchase prefabricated terrazzo tiles, which consist of similar materials. They’re poured into a mold and cured before installation.

You can add radiant heating under a terrazzo floor, which is an excellent way to combat the naturally cold surface of terrazzo floors. Installing radiant heating costs $1,653 to $6,656. You'll want to install the heating elements under the thin-set epoxy because the layer is thin enough for the warmth to conduct through the floor.

Making your own terrazzo can be a tricky DIY project. The exact mix takes a blend of art and skill to create and requires the expertise of a terrazzo pro. The wrong blend could crack, peel, or break easily, requiring expensive repairs. Finishing and polishing the floor also requires previous experience to achieve a professional appearance. Expect to pay between $200 and $2,500 for the cost of restoring and polishing floors.

Terrazzo flooring is eco-friendly because it is crafted using recycled materials such as glass, marble, and polished metal, and its epoxy binder emits no VOCs once cured. This sustainable manufacturing approach minimizes waste and supports green building practices. Homeowners gain an attractive flooring option, contributing to healthier indoor air quality and environmental conservation.
