"It went flawlessly. The three guys arrived on time and made fast work of disassembling our granite slab front steps, by hand. They created a new reinforced base with crushed stone and reassembled the slabs to a new level surface. They patched two concrete retaining walls. Then the attacked the 37-year dirt build-up on our large concrete patio. They cut and filled a few large cracks and pressure washed the surface so that it now looks like a completely different patio. I could not be happier with the completed results of these three too-hard-for-us projects. Excellent work by three very hardworking professionals!"

"Todd and Henry could not be more fair and professional. They are prompt, transparent, and hard working. The trees they removed from my Conway property were about 40' tall and in close proximity to the house. The job went off without a hitch and the crew worked hard. I asked them to cut the oak into 18" pieces so I could use it in my stove and they did it at no extra charge. I now use them for my every day landscaping needs. I highly recommend this company for all Hardscaping services. <br />"

"The service provided was excellent. They responded the same day I called about availability and were able to fit me into their schedule on a day when I was home. They were very professional and left my home looking great. The price was fair as I got a 2nd quote for the same amount of mulch that was $200 more. I will definitely use them again"

"<p>Communication and coordination were difficult. When they came, they seemed nice enough. They looked at the pile we wanted removed and suggested that it would be cheaper to either bury it or move it farther back on our property. This was nice; we appreciated the other ideas. The verbal price for moving the pile was $600-700. We also wanted to see what they would charge to drop a clump of maples. Dick came out again and said that he would crunch the numbers and send a proposal via email by the end of the week.</p> <p>A week later, we still had no proposal, so I reached out via email. They said that they had emailed the proposal, didn't know why we didn't get it, and would send it again. They sent it again and we got it. Instead of breaking the proposal down by task as we asked, they lumped it all together at about $1400.</p> <p>I replied, asking for a breakdown. I said that since they had quoted $600-700 for moving the pile, that dropping the trees (and leaving them, not taking them away) would therefore be $700-800, which we thought was a bit much.</p> <p>When we received the proposal for the breakdown, the quote for moving the pile was $935, with the rest of the price for dropping the trees. This was way more than we talked about, and more than we thought was fair. We declined to use them and will probably not use them.</p> <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in South Berwick, ME

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
