"I tried to shop for best price but not many contractors will even return calls.  TBS does return calls promptly and sends someone over for a quote promptly.  I appreciated that.   <br /> When it came time to do the work, it was done quite a bit later than I had expected and I worried that the project would not get done before the first significant snowfall.  It involved work on the roof, so the stated goal was to get it done well before that.  For whatever reason I waited a little longer than I had hoped to get the work done. <br /> Their employees are friendly and do a good job.  I?d recommend them, however I would in the future give myself more time to get more than one quote. <br />"

"We had our awning installed today. The process was smooth and went without any problems. Ty and Connor went right to work as soon as they arrived at our house. They did an excellent job, and when they were finished, they walked us through anything that we would need to know about the operation of the awning."

"Once you are a customer over there and you have a problem they come back and they fix it cheaply and that can be 10 years ago or 15 years later. They will find the part, they will match it and they will fix it and they are reasonable. Ryan took care of it with the insurance company. They stand behind their work and they stay behind their product."

"Mr. Haas identified problems in our roof installation and issued a report. He suggested re-install and steps that we should take to get it done. It was a long process that involved county and DPOR. Mr. Haas was very helpful every step during the entire process. He is highly experienced and very responsive to our calls, text, and email. We eventually got the roof reinstalled in a very good quality. Mr. Haas was onsite multiple times to ensure the right materials and methods were used. It would not be possible without the help from Mr. Haas."

"A guy came out the next day to perform an estimate after I contacted them. It was a pretty standard presentation and work-up. He made two claims that weren't quite accurate. The upstairs windows did not quite qualify for Energy Star certification in WI, although he claimed that they did. I could have paid an extra $20 each for ones that qualified, but this would have made little difference in actual performance. He didn't explain this at the time. He also charged me for custom vinyl interior trim work in the bathroom that I requested, acting like it was almost routine. When the team of three installers arrived, they were about an hour early . They worked very quickly. They did professional-looking work and were careful not to damage the house. They knew nothing about the Energy Star issue or the custom trim. They said they had never performed that kind of work before, but took the charge off of my bill and helped me remove the old wood trim, so I could complete the job myself. They said the estimator who misinformed me had recently been hired and already let go for such misconduct. A piece of trim fell off of the foundation exterior about an hour after they left. Since they had the owner contact me about the other issues, I mentioned it to him and he came out and inspected their work and had them return promptly to fix it and touch up a few other minor issues. He offered me a discount on future gutter work that I was interested in as a concession. My Window World experience was acceptable over-all. I avoided them for years due to their extremely deceptive advertising, but eventually contacted them based on personal recommendations from neighbors and co-workers. Their $189 windows are not suitable for heated areas, yet they pair that reference with Energy Star references on all of their advertising. Their pricing structure is pretty standard for custom replacement windows; there are no flat rates as they imply. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Spring Grove, MN

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
