"When I reviewed the listings you had for carpet cleaners, Captain Clean was the only one who mentioned area rugs in their description of services. Phil was very polite when I called. I dropped the rug myself at their facility. One of the workers unloaded the rug from my car. Phil said that he wouldn't be able to give me an estimate until they measured the rug and inspected it to see how dirty it was. He said it would take 4-5 days, since it would need to dry. I dropped it off on a Monday morning and i got a phone message late on Weds that it was ready to be picked up. On Thursday afternoon I picked it up. Phil was there to greet me in his navy blue uniform shirt and pants. One of the workers went to get the rug and loaded it into my car. Everyone was extremely courteous. The rug looks beautiful despite its age of 29 years! <br /> The only reason I didn't give them an excellent for price was because I left not knowing how much it cost. (I'm sure that if i had called back, I could have gotten that information.) I believe the price was fair considering the size of the rug and the fact that it's reversible. <br /> I will certainly be using Captain Clean again - particularly for cleaning my area rugs! <br />"

"Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories, Inc. sent a package with 2 vials and instructions for collecting the samples.  I collected the samples as instructed, completed a questionnaire, and returned the sample vials as instructed.  A week or two later they sent the analysis.  Everything went as expected.  There were no problems. <br />"

"Everything went splendid with K&S, and without them, I may still be without heat (in Minnesota, in March). Brian spent way more time than he should have had to, dealing with a lazy home warranty company, and ensuring that I knew that they were trying to give me a cheap replacement for the first rate unit that was there. He took the time to school me on what to tell them, so I didn't sound like the ignorant homeowner that I was . I now have a super efficient brand new Lennox furnace in my home, thanks to K&S heating. I was so impressed with their service, I applied to work there."

"The blower motor on my furnace was squeeling, and not working at all most times.  When I spun the squirrel cage manually it would work for a short time, but then finally got to the point where it wasnt working at all.  Just a hummy noise.  When I called them, I left a message and within hours I got a call back.  I explained what I thought was wrong and they confirmed that it sounded like a bad blower motor, or to try the starter capacitor first.  I got a capacitor first and swapped out, but no luck.  Then got in touch with them again and within a hour got a new motor to swap out.   He was very easy going and said I could swap it out myself if I wanted and then if I had problems, to call them and they could come out.  I attempted the swap, but I could not get the squirrel cage off the old motor.  I called them the next day and they came out that same day and finished the work for me using the right tools.  Within a hour and a half, I was up and working again and have been working fine ever since.  a new blower motor and starting capacitor was changed.  I would recommend them in the future to anyone."

Northern Duct Seal seals duct work from the inside by use of computerized tools and equipment. The process takes one day and our technicians will provide pre-seal and post-seal duct leakage reports on the spot. The basic steps to do a duct seal are: 1) Pre-seal Test is done to measure duct leakage, 2) Registers, returns, and air handler coil are blocked off with foam plugs, 3) A UL-tested and approved aerosol is injected into the pressurized duct system, 4) A Post-Seal Test is performed to measure improvements and 5) A complete Report and Certificate are printed to provide the customer with a record of improvement. Duct sealing provides a solution to high energy bills, air flow/air balance issues, uneven temperatures, hot and cold rooms, excessive humidity, musty odors and fume smells from stored paints, solvents, pesticides, and radon gases. Northern Duct Seal will reduce duct leakage by up to 90%, saving customers an average of $600 - $850 a year, with a 2-3 year return investment, depending on variables such as weather, system usage, energy prices, and home design. Northern Duct Seal offers a 10- year warranty on the seals created by our technicians. The sealant itself has been UL tested and approved and is considered non toxic by OSHA. For a demonstration video of the duct sealing process please see the 'Ask This Old House' Video located under the Media tab on this page.

"They did really good work. They were quick and efficient. We haven't gotten the bill yet so we don't know how that is going to work out. The only issue we had was that we have an older home with plaster walls and they forgot they needed a special bit so the work was delayed. When they got the bit ordered it was defective. They should have anticipated that when they did the estimate. They saw the house and saw that it was plaster. They were very thorough and did a good job. They did a good job of cleaning up. We would probably use them again. They are not the worst contractor we have dealt with."

"House without furniture. Workers arrived on time; introduction; confirmed estimate; identified stains; set-up; efficiently performed task; removed stains thought to be set; all areas cleaned well; removed equipment; no collateral damage; workers waited for owner to return from task; payment made. Good job. Took carpets an additional 24 hours to completely dry (turned on A/C to expedite removal of carpet moisture)."

FAQs for air ducts & vents cleaning service projects in Spring Valley, MN

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that air duct cleaning is not required unless visible issues such as mold buildup, rodent droppings, or excessive dust are present. When such conditions exist, cleaning becomes essential to protect indoor air quality and maintain HVAC efficiency. This approach minimizes potential health risks and extends the system’s life.

Air ducts must be cleaned every three to five years as required by NADCA to preserve system efficiency and indoor air quality. The EPA insists that cleaning is necessary only when significant issues such as mold, pest infestations, or heavy dust accumulation are evident. Annual inspections by a certified professional promptly address any emerging concerns.

The ideal seasons for air duct cleaning are spring and fall. Cleaning during these periods prepares your HVAC system for the demands of both winter heating and summer cooling. These seasons provide moderate weather conditions that enable efficient service completion while minimizing disruption, ensuring your system performs at its peak.

Professional air duct cleaning takes a fixed duration of two to five hours, depending on the home’s size and the complexity of the duct system. Smaller residences with standard ductwork complete the service in two hours, while larger homes with extensive ducts require up to five hours. Additional repairs may extend this duration.

To prepare for professional air duct cleaning, ensure all vents are unobstructed by moving nearby furniture and clearing pathways. Secure any pets in a safe area and confirm that your HVAC system units are easily accessible for technician inspection. Proper preparation contributes to a higher quality service outcome and prevents delays, allowing the cleaning process to proceed efficiently.
