"We had Real Help Concrete complete a few projects including installing a new concrete driveway and refinishing and recoloring our stamped concrete patio. Both jobs were done to perfection. Our experience from start to finish was very positive. Josh and his team are very professional and detail oriented. It was clear upon meeting them that they were extremely good at what they do both from a business standpoint as well as from their workmanship. We are very pleased with the work and would highly recommend them!"

"Due to a rapid thawing, our home's sump pump started to fail and couldn't pump water faster than it was coming in from the drain tile. I came home from work to find a huge puddle of water in the area where the pump was situated, about 1/2" deep. The pump itself was working, but barely. After spending an hour bucketing water out of the pump well, I gave Frank's Basement Systems a call at around 7:45pm. One of their guys, Shane, was at my house within 20 minutes. He did a perimeter check outside the house and confirmed water was being pumped out, but the flow was minimal. He disconnected the pump from the piping, pulled it out, and I got a view of how corroded the old pump was, and it was chock full of debris and rocks. He cleaned the rocks from the pump and reinstalled to see if that would help the situation - it didn't. By this point, I was fully prepared to invest in a new pump, and he kindly provided me with the inventory he had available. Upon deciding which pump to go with, he went to his truck, drew up the paperwork that I signed, and he was able to install the new pump within half an hour. In addition to the pump, he redid the piping exiting the house and added a quiet check valve. Finally, he provided me with an estimate for a backup pump, at my request. Besides the great and thorough work, Shane was friendly, kind and honest. He did his due diligence in first attempting to repair the old sump before advising installation of a new model. He wore plastic booties over his shoes, wore a face mask the entire time and maintained proper social distancing. I've worked with Frank's at my previous house and am glad to have worked with them on the sump for my current house. I hope I won't need any work in the near future, but if I do, I'll continue to go with Frank's."

"If I could give no stars, I would. We received a quote for a raised patio and addl concrete pad along the garage. The quote was fair and we signed a contract for "raised patio and pad". Fast forward a year, we have the sales associate come out to quote us on extending the pad and - low-and-behold - the pad wasn't included in the original quote?! The pad referred to in the quote was apparently the step to the raised patio? The steps are quoted separately?! Forgive my misunderstanding, but I would have thought that the steps up to a raised patio would have been all one price. Raised patio without steps? Anyway, he quotes us on the original pad and it's $800 or bust with the explanation of - "I'm human and there's a lot of dogs and babies in the office". I recognize people make mistakes, but when you provide a quote, and you make a mistake, I am of the opinion you should own said mistake. I'm not saying he should do it for nothing, but I don't have $800 laying around to throw at someone who is too busy with dogs and babies to complete a quote. Not to mention, we did receive other quotes and chose them based on the job we proposed. And, as if that's not enough, the patio wasn't what we discussed. I was very clear that I wanted the patio at the same height as the existing deck and yet, he took it upon himself to add a step down from the house. No phone call, no discussion, just throws a step down where I said I didn't want one. Maybe there was a reason for it - but I should have been told that on the onset. I was told I would get my deposit back, and upon my request there was no attempt to reconcile or understand why I was asking for it back. I'm not saying they should beg for my business, but I cancelled a $6k job that I waited a year for and they have no investment in us? Are they getting that many requests for deposit returns that it's not worth their time to find out why? YIKES! Needless to say, their unprofessionalism is profound. I definitely dodged a bullet on this one."

"Ivy Lea replaced a leaky roof over my sunroom with ...a leaky roof. The roof is under warranty and i have been waiting for nearly 2 months for a water test. i have placed countless calls. clearly honoring a warranty is not their priority."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Springville, NY

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
