Small jobs welcome

"Will was great to work with. He gets the job done and is a conscientious worker. Things others said couldn’t be done, he and his employees could do the job and better than expected. Very pleased and will hire him for future projects. "

"Just used Rich and crew for a much needed tree trimming. They did an excellent job, stayed until it was finished and the backyard was cleaned up properly. Rich kept me in the loop as the work was performed. They did exactly what we agreed upon and paid exactly what we agreed upon. I will be using them for anything else moving forward. Very personable/nice people. Already started giving out their contact info to my co-workers! Very good company."

"We bought a home that had a salt pool in the back yard. I was only familiar with chlorine pools. I interviewed/met with several pool companies before calling Jessica w Signature Pools. As soon as I talked to Jessica I knew Signature Pools was the company for me. They came weekly and did a beautiful job. They were professional, thorough, and always left detailed paperwork on what they did to the pool that day. I had a step by step analysis of the chemicals used in the pool as well as what the pool's chemical breakdown was. I am thankful to have found Signature Pools and highly recommend Jessica and her team! <br />"

"The Garage Authority was contracted to install a polyurea flake flooring in my two car garage and I could not be happier with the completed job! In fact, the finished floor is so nice that I have asked The Garage Authority to come back and apply the finish to my concrete front porch floor."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Spruce Pine, NC

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
