"Bert is AWESOME! He was super responsive, extremely professional, and very detail oriented. My wife and daughters enjoy daily tubs and our old tub in our old house needed to be fixed (or replaced). Bert (& his son) came in and professionally completed the job while exceeding my expectations. The tub looks and feels BRAND NEW! He even came back to ensure the grip on the bottom of the tub was perfect in order to stay safe while standing during showers and comfortable on your bottom during a tub! I would recommend Bert to all friends & family. Truly a great job."

"The tiles in my shower had fallen off due to weak/rotted grout, and water had been seeping behind the loose tiles. Hard Store Restoration was the only contractor I had contacted. The owner/proprietor Trevor Fromm arrived within 24 hours, and provided several solutions along with estimates for each. The estimates were extremely reasonable, and a date was set for the repair/remodeling. The day prior to the scheduled date, Trevor sent a courtesy email reminder..., (No surprises in this process !) However, what was most impressive was Trevor and his employee, Kyle. On the scheduled day, Trevor and Kyle arrived promptly at 9 a.m. with all materials in hand. (No unnecessary trips to either Home Depot, or Lowe's, during 'work time'). Let me tell you something..., Trevor and Kyle worked, and I mean WORKED, without cease from the time they arrived until the remodeling was completed at 2:45 p.m. (No lunch break; no time spent on cellphones; no distractions whatsoever). Finally, when the remodeling was completed, Trevor was very attentive to cleaning up so that my apartment looked as it did prior to Trevor and Kyle arriving 6 hours earlier. While this is, on my part, a glowing review of a contractor who has completed only one job for me, I would never hesitate to contact Trevor again, as well as refer Trevor to any friend/acquaintance/colleague. Thank you for your fine work Trevor and Kyle !"

"Everything went great, there were a couple changes that had to be made as the job progressed, we found out the old toilet had been leaking pretty badly, and there was a bunch of rotting floor boards.  Other than that they completed the job within our time frame, cleaned the house up at the end of each day very well, and really treated our home like it was theirs.  Everything was sealed up with plastic barriers so we wouldn't get dust throughout the house, I was very pleased about that.  We plan to have them back in the next year or two for the kitchen.

FAQs for tile: ceramic and porcelain repair projects in Stafford, CT

People use the terms refinishing, resurfacing, and reglazing interchangeably. Refinishing is a process that repairs old tiles and gives them a fresh new coat of finish. This is also called tile resurfacing or reglazing.

Yes, you can refinish tiles as a DIY project, but it’s important to follow all the steps involved. These include the following:

  1. Clean the tiles or hire a local tile cleaning service to remove all the residue (soap film, oil, grease, and dirt).

  2. Etch the tile to ensure the refinishing solution adheres properly.

  3. Fill in any cracks or chips in the tile.

  4. Recoat the grout.

  5. Repair any missing or damaged caulking where applicable.

  6. Apply the refinishing product, primer, and enamel.

Your newly reglazed tile should last between 10 and 15 years with proper installation. However, higher-traffic areas and moisture may result in a reduced life span. Explore the cost of different tile types to determine which material works best for your home and needs.

Your bathtub and tile refinishing cost will likely seem like a small price to pay for the transformation it offers. Provided your tile and grout are both intact, refinishing will bring a brand-new style at a fraction of the cost.

Yes, most ceramic tile is paintable with specific epoxy or tile paints. However, you’ll want to avoid areas of heavy use or moisture, such as countertops, showers, and bathtubs. Paint can crack, bubble, or wear away over time, especially on floors.
