"We have been planning to do some remodeling in our 70s home and had some cracked/peeling paint. Since we have a baby, I was worried about lead paint exposure. After trying the 3M lead check swabs and getting confusing results, we decided to go with a professional. Itwas totally worth cost and didnt cause any damage. Louis checked every permanent surface of our home. Thankfully lead was only found in our bathtub and some tiles...spots I didn’t even think of! Louis answered my many questions, and I now feel confidant in remodeling. Louis was extremely professional and knowledgeable."

"I was in need of soffit, fascia, and siding. Had an estimate drawn up for all of it. We decided to just do gutters, soffit, and fascia (thankfully). Did a walk through, and contract signing gave them half down (all professional up to this point). Then it went downhill. Short story, the job is done 2.5 months later. Sales guy goofed, mishandled the situation. Water behind the fascia, lights not reinstalled, coax not put back. Countless emails, calls etc. Just got off the phone with Charles who went off on me because he thought I was some other guy. But at least I let them finish the job, not like the other guy from last year. Well, apparently I am not the only one."

"We had Ullmer Construction finish our lower level. Pretty much everything was sub contracted out. The subs did good work but we have some issues with the project, Collin does not return calls or messages. Project was completed December 2019, as of today July 29, 2020 still have the issues we had and no calls are returned. Plus some of the sub contractors have not been paid for their services yet, we paid Ullmer Construction for the project in December 2019. Too bad he operates this way, BEWARE"

"If you decide to work with this company, make sure to get a VERY detailed quote. After having many discussions about shower glass, they told me that it would be reasonable to use a shower curtain in a 19,000 dollar bathroom. So they wanted to charge me 2,700 more for a 4ft by 4ft shower. Then, they said they would need an additional 900 dollars to tile the walls even though the contract said all tile was included. We asked them to replace a 1 ft by 4 ft glass block window and they quoted us 1,100 dollars plus materials. When I confronted them they said it was a typo. Then they quoted me 750 for it. I had it replaced by a trustworthy professional for 400 dollars including materials by a company who wasn’t trying to scam me. When I told them I was going to have my own person do it because I didn’t want to pay their, price the threatened to charge me if there were any delays for his project. When I told them I wouldn’t pay their ridiculous prices, they breached their contract and left my basement full of holes. You should avoid this company if you want to work with someone you can trust. My opinion is that this company is in it to scam people, and that is how they make their ends meet."

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Stanchfield, MN

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
