"This company is the best! I was impressed from the beginning with how clear they were in the quote on what exactly was to be done, so there were no surprises. Everyone on the crew was courteous and professional. The work was completed ahead of schedule."

"I was very satisfied with the work. The fellow who came out to give me the bid was very knowledgeable, friendly, and did not try to talk me into anything more expensive. I was impressed that he said the solution to my water problem was just one glass block window. And he was right. I waited until after I went through not only a 4-day constant rain, but one torrential rain, to do this report, just to see if it worked. And it did. My basement is dry."

"The guy that they sent off to do the work was not very knowledgeable. I had the work done before so I knew what was supposed to be done. I actually told him how to do the baseline. It ended up coming out alright. I have another company do it a little cheaper but they don't do our area anymore. They're on time in everything. I would probably not use them in the future."

"The work went very well.  We had a few rain delays, but that could not be helped.  Also we were coordinating other work with another contractor (see R and R Concrete) that sometimes caused delays. They showed up when expected, excavated one side of the house and dug holes on the other (walk out basement) for the piers.  When finished the yard was repaired as good as could be expected for St Louis summer. I have a little work to do on it now that it has cooled off. I had to have cracks repaired inside and concrete work done on the outside.  The people they recommended did wonderful work. <br />"

"I like them a lot. They were good to me. They took my old counter top and remove the sink, took out, the old stove and the placed new counter top, sink, glass top flat stove and new stainless steel hood. They charged me exactly the amount they quoted me. they were friendly, honest and they gave me a detailed quote. They are a small company but they gave me a very good service. I was impressed. They even cleaned after the work was done."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Stanton, IA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
