"Oscar had a quote for me within 24 hours of my homeadvisor search. They were able to start the project on my schedule. John, Stuart, and other workers that came to our house were respectful, clean, and polite. The project took a little longer than quoted, but I have never had a home remodel that didn't go a little over the timeline. They completely transformed our master bath into a beautiful walk-in shower, new wall and floor tile, new vanity top, and lighting. I showed them a picture of my vision, and the guys from AAA totally nailed it! I will use their services for future projects."

"I plan to hire Frank back for all my handyman needs! I found him on Angie's list based on his a rating and location. I called him and he was able to squeeze in a visit to a new property we had just purchased to give me a quote. I found out when he arrived that he was extremely knowledgeable about manufactured homes. We didn't realize that we had purchased a manufactured home and there was no designation for handymen with this expertise on Angie's list. I had a full inspection report and Frank walked through the entire report with me. He was great about explaining and even pointing out other items and educating me on why it happened and how serious it was or wasn't. He was very thorough and even climbed down into the crawlspace, which the next contractor I had out to give me a bid, did not. He called me that evening with the quote and got started two days later. Frank did a great job, was flexible, completed the work quickly, and I found him to be trustworthy. I would definitely recommend him."

"We first hired Brad to complete a patio that someone else had begun. That led into doing another patio with beautiful stairs connecting them. He redesigned our fence configuration in the back yard so that we have more back yard, plus built it 8 feet tall to keep the deer out of the yard. Then we talked about the floors in our home; eight rooms had old carpet or linoleum and we wanted to switch to ceramic tile. Brad learned how to lay tile, even bringing in a professional tile-layer from Utah who is a good friend, and helping us pick out what type of tile to use and what patterns to use in each room. Next was the garage project, which Brad designed and built himself. He then built us a chicken house which he designed, based on his experience raising his own chickens (and sold us some starter hens and a rooster). The patios are bordered by low walls made of beer/pop cans covered with stucco; they are free-form and very organic looking. The bathtub project came about because we discovered mold behind the wall around the tub; he and a carpenter friend removed the tub and designed a shower stall, maximizing the space available. He even custom-made the shower pan. The last projects he did were the raised beds, the outdoor kitchen, and the final patio that replaced the old front porch (also with low walls). Brad is an artist in his work; he did the design work on most of these projects, but would work with us and LISTEN to us express our ideas of what we wanted. He is very personable and friendly, easy going, and fun to have around!. We have personally recommended him to friends and acquaintances in the area; his work speaks for itself. I want to adopt him! <br />"

"Horn Brothers Roofing just completed installing a Gerard steel roof on my home in Evergreen. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of their work and the finished product. The tear off crew, the install crew and the gutter contractor were all excellent, and punctual. They cleaned up each and every day before departing. None of my concerns were ever discounted and more importantly, they often told me that they wanted me to be satisfied with their work. What a wonderful company who are several steps above the normal roofing contractor. I highly recommend Horn Brothers Roofing. I almost forgot to mention the professionalism of their salesperson, Matthew Williams. He educated me on the benefits of a steel roof and followed up in a timely manner. Matthew also assisted me in working through the insurance company and their field inspectors, assuring me of the best dollar adjustment, which is critical to any homeowner."

"I was referred to Mack Landscape (Tyler) by a pool installer who contracts with him to remove pools.  Tyler was quick to come out for a quote and provide 2 options for entering the yard -- one through a neighbor's yard and the other by tearing out an overgrown tree.  We opted for the tree, and he removed it and covered the area with mulch throughout the duration of our project.  The whole thing took about a week.  They removed sections of the fence (which they then replaced), removed an overgrown, poorly placed vegetable garden (left by the previous owners - we just bought the house and were happy to have it gone), drained the pool, broke up the bottom of the pool, broke up the top 3' feet of the pool walls, tore out the rebar, added gravel and then contracted with another pool company to get the dirt from a pool they were digging that day.  He compacted the area throughout the project.  Topped it with seed and straw for erosion control, put the fence back, and did some additional fence repair work, unrelated to the pool project.  Removed shrubs that had overgrown the side walk/path as well as ones that were out of place in the front of the house.Along the way he advised about other landscaping issues he saw in the yard, especially relating to grading.Since we completed this job, we have decided to take on other projects and were quick to call Tyler.  GREAT experience. <br /> <br /> It's now 9 months later and Tyler has returned to make sure the lawn continues to fill in.  Great customer service."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Steamboat Springs, CO

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
