"Elson did a very professional job on my sidewalk and garage apron. He was very prompt from the estimate to the final cleanup/inspection. He allowed me to ask questions throughout the project. Kept me informed on his schedule even when he had to postpone the start date due to weather conditions. Once he started the job, he stayed on until it was completed. I attached a completed photo of the job right after his final cleanup. I will hire him again in a heartbeat."

"Fantastic! He was the first contractor to contact me and he was by far the lowest cost. I had about 120’ of sidewalk and a couple 9’x12’ slabs to replace. Existing was poured in the early 1900’s. 3x thicker than what I think he expected along with several granite slabs I had for stairs. Andy and his guys still made quick work of it. The elevation of my existing walkway was awful. Standing water and an ice rink in the middle. I know he used 3x more fill than he expected to make it right. Laying out the new walkway he had some design suggestions that my wife loved. Again I know it was more work than he initially expected. The finished work and cleanup was great. Some contractors have an upcharge for every little thing. He stood by his quote. Being a contractor ,of a different trade myself, I could not in good conscience not pay him a little more. I still paid hundreds less than the next closest ESTIMATE. I couldn’t be happier and I will have him back in the spring to replace the other side of the house. Well done Andy and crew."

"I recently hired Charles "Charlie" Turner of C&C Concrete to redo my cement porch, stairs, and install a new walkway—and I couldn't be happier with the results. Charlie was professional, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with. One of the major issues I was dealing with was that my porch had been incorrectly pitched, causing water to flow towards my house instead of away from it. Charlie not only identified the problem right away, but also explained the solution in a way I could easily understand. He completely reworked the slope of the porch to ensure proper drainage, helping to protect my home from potential water damage. In addition to the porch, he redid the stairs and installed a beautiful new walkway that ties everything together. The quality of craftsmanship is top-notch, and it's clear Charlie takes great pride in his work. Everything looks fantastic and functions exactly as it should. If you’re looking for someone for Concrete work Charlie is the man for the job! "

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Stonington, CT

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
