"Nixon and his worker worked straight for 5 hours moving 4 rooms of very difficult and heavy furniture. They then went on to repair a desk and hang a very heavy old mirror. They were wonderful. They are planning on returning in the spring to do some outside garden and yard work. I now know who to call when I need anything and everything done in my house."

"Leo has helped us with interior and exterior projects for more than 25 years. The quality of his work is beautiful and his knowledge is endless. I appreciate that he takes into consideration my presences but offers honest feedback about what is truly workable in my older home."

Small jobs welcome

"We had Martin paint our living room, hallway, foyer, heating elements, doors, and window trim. In addition, he put in new baseboards and chair railing. He replaced our entryways into the kitchen with nice molding. He took down and replaced our light fixture in the foyer. He was able to work off a benchmark photo to achieve the final result with very little input required from me. He really takes so much pride in his work, he's like a magician, waves his magic wand to create an amazing end product. "

Customers say: Quick response

"Inson is a creative genius with a superb eye. He did everything with meticulous detail and completely transformed our apartment into an amazing, gorgeous home. We enjoy entertaining, and our friends love coming over, always remarking how beautiful and inviting our home is- and that was exactly what we wanted, except Inson brilliantly upgraded our concept, within budget and on time (even with our aggressive timeline because we needed to be out of our old place and into our new within months!). Inson’s team was also great to work with - always polite and professional. We highly recommend Inson and plan on working with him again on our Hamptons home!"

"Tom took the time to understand what we wanted in our kitchen renovation and tailored it to our vision. He and his crew were extremely neat and kept a clean job site every day. The work was excellent and delivered on time. I would not hesitate to recommend Tom to my friends and family and have actually done so numerous times. Update: 12/09/2020 Tom and his crew did a wonderful job. They planned the timing well and were very neat and clean as they worked. I highly recommend Ton Watson. Update: 0322/2021: Very efficient clean install, very meticulous work."

"Milton has been remarkable for us since we moved into our new house two years ago. He's done everything from re-tiling three rooms to painting our entire house, finished our basement, redid our garage, turned our tired old laundry room into something modern and functional. We will be calling again whenever new projects arise. "

FAQs for kitchen remodel projects in Stratford, CT

Your galley kitchen needs adequate clearance around any island installation to maintain functionality. Most galley kitchens lack sufficient width for traditional islands, as these layouts prioritize efficiency in smaller spaces.

If your kitchen has an unusual width, consult with a kitchen designer who can evaluate your specific dimensions and recommend appropriate solutions. For narrower spaces, consider alternatives like rolling carts or narrow work tables that provide additional surface area without permanently restricting movement.

Kitchen remodels require six to 10 weeks for completion, though timelines vary based on project scope and material availability. Simple updates like cabinet refinishing and countertop replacement might finish within a few weeks, while comprehensive renovations involving structural changes often extend beyond two months.

Planning stages add approximately four weeks before construction begins. Maintaining clear communication with your contractor and ordering materials early helps prevent unnecessary delays.

Common errors include insufficient clearance between opposing countertops, inadequate lighting that creates shadowy work areas, and poor storage planning that leaves countertops cluttered. Some homeowners select oversized appliances that overwhelm the space or invest in expensive features that don't address fundamental workflow issues.

Careful planning, accurate measurements, and consultation with experienced professionals help avoid these pitfalls and ensure your renovation successfully addresses your kitchen's specific challenges.

Whether expansion makes sense depends on your home's layout, your budget, and your long-term plans. Combining a galley kitchen with neighboring spaces creates more open, flexible layouts that many buyers prefer. However, removing walls involves substantial costs, particularly if they contain plumbing, electrical systems, or structural elements.

Sometimes, optimizing your existing galley layout through better storage solutions and lighting proves more cost-effective than expansion. Consult with a contractor to evaluate specific costs for your situation.

Effective galley kitchen lighting combines multiple sources to eliminate shadows and create visual spaciousness. Overhead fixtures provide general illumination, while under-cabinet lighting illuminates work surfaces directly. Consider recessed ceiling fixtures that don't protrude into limited headspace.

Lighting with dimming capabilities allows adjustment for different activities. Reflective surfaces like glass tile backsplashes or glossy cabinet finishes help bounce light throughout the space, reducing the corridor effect common in galley layouts.
